Dealership wanted $20k for a new engine. The rate he seen was for a n63 which BMW subsidizes the engine since they are pieces of crap.

At this point I want to take my GME tendies and go back and buy my old car.

lol I was wondering where they were sourcing their N55s from. BMW list price on a PWG N55 is just under $16k FOR ENGINE ALONE. I've called LKQ to get pricing on used ones and with the 12/12 warranty we get from them (this being factored into the cost of the engine) is not that much less than what BMW wants (just under $13k is the lowest I've been quoted AND it had well north of 100k miles on it). It makes more sense that they were looking at N63s as they currently list a hair under $4k (engine alone) from BMW.

I still suggest doing a Blackstone test. If you have no shavings in there, then you have nothing to worry about and you can keep it and not worry about the financial loss. At the end of the day it's your car and you should do whatever gives you peace of mind and makes you happy

Let's not turn this into an n63 bashing. If you dont own or have never owned an n63 than you dont really know anything about the n63. I dont have any issues with mine and know many people in the same exact situation. Far more enjoyable to drive than any inline 6.

Too late....you turned it into an N63 thread...

Does the S63B44B count? Fun, yes, but not impressed with it's reliability....and although not the N63, my N62B44A was no pleasure to own...

While I have no emotion linked to my N55B30A, my V-8 ownerships absolutely have all been a love-and-hate relationship, which it shouldn't really be this emotional.....just saying.

Plenty of low-mileage N55’s out there for under $5k. And $2500 sounds like a rip off to me. How hard can it be to swap some parts over and install the engine?

Nick has already posted his wheel/tires for sale with the intent to start pulling his MODS off his car, so I'd say he's already made up his mind.

When his 6WB shows up in the classified, he's moved back to his E90, guaranteed.....

Statistics: N63 is relatively unreliable, entire class action against the engine for reliability issues

F10c550i: Wait hold up, me and some random other people never had a problem, those stats must be wrong!

I found my original wheels and tires which I bought back.

When I get home in two weeks I am stripping my car and selling it to carvana for 8k.

If anyone has any leads on a F30 335i or F10 535i for $15k let me know.

I found this while looking while I am down in Florida.

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

Imperial Blue
Oyster
CA
Logic 7
Soft Close
Power trunk
N52

The only bad thing is that the check engine light is on. I could legit take all of my parts of my 535i and put it on this car.
