Adding Paddle Shifters

Ok, let me start by saying that I have read a TON of threads regarding the paddle shifter retrofit, but non of the ones I've read seem to answer my specific question/situation.

I have a 2012 535i (non M-Sport) with the Sport Package which includes the Sport Steering Wheel (not base steering wheel). It did not come with paddle shifters and I'd like to add them since I actually enjoyed using the ones I had on my 335i.

Now, all the threads I've read have been people asking to retrofit the paddle shifters to the base steering wheel (non Sport), and the answer has always been that they need to purchase an M-Sport steering wheel and do some coding to enable the paddle shifters.

My question is, is it possible to only purchase the paddle shifters since I already have the Sport steering wheel, or are paddle shifters only able to be added to the M-Sport steering wheel?
