2011 535i depreciation normal?

I'm at a point where I am thinking about going back to a smaller car- previously drove E46 m3. The 535i has been a great car but it's bulky and have no need for back seats. I am thinking about going back to m3. It seems like the 535i market has depreciated heavily. Anyone recently sold there f10 in 2016? Did you get Kbb or higher? Kbb seems low 23k

Also I do have extended warranty till 100k miles (but I believe this is now untransferable)

2011 535i msport white with extended warranty to 100k
Purchased 2014 with 20k miles cpo for 42k
Thinking about selling in 2016 50k miles with kbb of 23k

Does msport or white push make this car more desirable? Any input would help my decision.

Also anyone sell to car max?

I would take it to CarMax regardless. It's completely hassle free to get a quote. I've sold two cars to them and have never been pushed into a new one on their lot. They give you 3 or so days to decide after you get the quote too.

typically, options mean little or nothing when it comes to resale.

Thanks all Carmax offered me low 20s. Options don't mean a thing, almost wish I leased instead of buy. I guess it depends on life stage. Right now I want a 2 seater or coupe. Just need to decide if I should hold or sell, depreciation curve should eventually flatline..

I told you options mean next to nothing. Whether to hang on to it or sell now is up to you, how badly do you want a 2 seater? The flatline for 5ers is usually around the 10k mark, so you have a ways to go before these cars flatline. The G30 release next year has negatively affected the value as well, anytime a new model is coming the previous model's value drops. There is a reason that no matter how much I love 5ers (I've had 3 in a row), I won't buy a new one, ever. It's just not worth it.

Definitely a great car to get used or CPO I think... I got my 2014 for basically $35k off MSRP with mileage under 20k. I know I'll get shafted if I ever decide to sell it in the near future, but for now, it's the car that has everything I want.

I completely agree, if you keep it until it's paid off, you'll be more than happy with it and move on with a smile. Try to get out of it before it's at least 80% paid for, and you will hate your life, but then that isn't a financially sound idea with any car - much less a high end "luxury car"
