Question Gloss or Flat Black Kidney Grills?

Good morning from Houston, it's a glorious sunny morning here.

So I'm going to do my first mod, going from my chrome grills to black. I'm not sure if I want gloss or flat/matte for the new ones. I'm leaning gloss because I'm going to keep my baby shining like new money and not planning on adding anything else that is flat.

I'd appreciate the input of those of you who've moved to the black.

Thanks!

Gloss black dual slat grills for the win. I just put them on my black f10. Went gloss to flow with the gloss paint of the car. What color is your car ?

Did the same; gloss black double slat. I also painted my lower grille gloss black to match.

I think it depends on the color of your car. Mine is Carbon Black and I like the look better with the chrome surround and black slats. I wetsanded off the chrome on the slats and love the look... Basically the 12-13 M5 look. Since they are just plastic it holds up much better to rock damage too. We have the full gloss black on our black sapphire 335 and that looks good.

Woo hoo. My first mod to my F10! Love the contrast between the silver exterior and the black grill inserts.

No, aftermarket from jbspeed from the Commerical postings on here. Very pleased and got an amazing deal. Also, didn't want to spend the $ for OEM in case I screwed up the DIY install.

My dad had a auto parts and garage I worked in as a kid, so I'm relatively good around cars. Next mod I'll do myself is likely Bavsound Stage One, although I need to get the chrome slats on the lower grill blackened.

Nice. I just wrapped my grill in carbon fiber vinyl and left the dual slats gloss black. Will put up a pic in the morning with some good light .

Had to google it, and it looks like it's what we used to call Veritas.

Grills look Awesome!
I used the left over shadowline trim kit to blacken those out as well as the front amber reflector and the side markers.

Indeed, it came out fantastic. Just separate the inner grill and then go after the outter face of the slat with 1k grit to get the chrome and any dents from road debris off. Finish up with 2k grit for that finish. Glad you like the look; I thought it really came out fantastic!

Looks great. Did you just wet sand or did you spray with matt black after?

heres some pics of mine, i just switched also from oem m perf black grills to m5 dual slat style ones, both glossy. Not sure which i like better
