Farewell to the one that started it all, The(Original)BlackGT

Over the year and a half that I began my Instagram, TheBlackGT, I've amassed over 36,200 followers, and have sent a shockwave throughout the modified BMW community with something like nothing out there.

From a model that was hated by so many (and even somewhat disliked by myself), I still hear the same line at least once at every function I attend. "Wow, I never thought I'd like the GT, but you've changed my mind."

Through the visions I had in mind for the car, I was able to really show that the GT has some serious potential, both looks-wise and even track/performance-wise.

The original will always be something special to me, and I'll never forget the memories created with it.

I know I haven't been too active on these forums and I never really showed the little changes the car went through in its last stages. However, my good friend Mike Bruno took some time out to do his magic one last time, I've attached some of my favorite shots from the shoot (hopefully someone notices the new look ).

However, the end of an era has come. The GT has been retired to her new home in Miami. I remember the day the new owner flew in to pickup the car, I ended up parking next to a completely stock white GT in the lot we were to meet. The owner of the white GT couldn't even believe our cars were the same, and seeing the two next to each other really did show the new owner what special treat he was in for.

I'm glad I was able to make the GT community proud, and I want to thank you all for the support you guys have given me. As my Instagram bio says, "Like No Other." The(Original)BlackGT was truly unique, bold, and like nothing else out there.

P.S. I'll reveal Part 2 very soon.

I'd have to say GTs are not my bag but yours looks like what a "X6" 5er should look like.

May I ask what your reasoning was for the GT originally? Cargo space? Different?

Over the gold wheels? These are just my OEMs, nothing special. I'll post the new one up soon, some may or may not agree with my decision

Think of the GT like what a 7 Series fastback would be, just marketed the wrong way IMHO, as it shares more with the 7 anyways (especially interior space/design).

After seeing how the modifications improved the car both visually and physically, and how popular it became on social media, I really fell in love with the GT. don't get me wrong, i still think a base model stock GT is a shame. However, with the right options and a couple modifications (especially lowering that needlessly raised suspension), the GT is a great car.

I think you went to far with the red accents in this last iteration, I preferred some of the previous looks. Good luck with the next project.

You definitely did more with less, so to speak. I never liked the GT, but for some reason I really liked yours. I look forward to your next project. Good luck bro

It was a little wild I agree, but that's what made it so daring in the last iteration. Trust me I'm all for the clean simple look as well, just wanted to try something different once too. thanks for the love.

Appreciate it, and it's true I started out with something rather odd at first, making it a more difficult project as well. However to me that made it all the better and more rewarding once people saw the true beauty in the GT. Thanks for the kind words.

Different is good a lot of times. For me, I like different - with taste, and you captured that. You certainly took on a challenge with the GT, but you made i work and work well. I am sure getting mods done was a little more difficult with the GT that the more common cars to mod, and you showed the car's potential.

GT still looks like its got a big ole' head........
I wish bmw would just import a 5 series wagon.
If painted green, the GT kind of reminds me of:
