535I exhaust flap ?
Hello all,
I've an 535i, and I love the cold start sound, I supose a flap in the exhaust is in a open position right ? So the question is, can I do something to let it always open ? I looked under the car and I didn't notice any valve or electrical plug on the exhaust like on the 435i/440i Someone has an idea ? Thanks ! |

Not true, some 535i's do have vacuum actuated exhaust valves.
Cold start sound has little to nothing to do with the position of that valve however, and more to do with whats being done to rapidly heat the catalyst. |

Most exhaust flap works when there is two path in the muffer and the flap closed force the flow in one of the path which is design to reduce more sound.

I just picked up a '12 535i. Has BMW M Performance exhaust. On any cold start I get a rattle that sounds JUST like my old 335i flap did on start up, basically sounds like the flap isn't fully open or closed and fluttering. But through all of my research I can't find a solid answer on whether they even have valves or not?!?!

I guess you are being sarcastic, but cold start sound goes away after a minute or so, and the idling sound becomes very quiet.
My question is if there is a way to make a car always have cold start sound when idling? |

I still like cold start sound and I am wondering if there is a way to replicate it (maybe using different method)? |
