Just so everyone is aware- Bangle still oversaw design on this car, also he never designed the E60 just was head of design.
The interior will be driver oriented like the E39 with an asymmetric dash facing the driver. there are different consoles depending on the transmission and there are a few other goodies that you will soon find out about! While this is conservative it is what usually happens in design terms, controversy then mainstream. I think BMW did a great job with this car and in the flesh there is a lot more to it than photos show- we should have learned that with the GT. -M

Love it. Wow that's nice. Hats of to BMW with this one.

If the 535d hits the states, I will dump the 335d, take whatever loss it means I'll take just to pick one up.
I'm thoroughly impressed.

If I were in charge of BMW in the moment and if I were reading these negative remarks, I would kindly tell to all the users dismissing the F10 as boring and generic, to simply sod off.
That's right. Sod off all of you! When the E60 emerged you all said it was ugly, complained, whined and even created a petition to sack Chris Bangle. Now that Chris Bangle is gone and the F10 is arguably better looking than the outgoing E60, you complain, whine again and have the bloody cheek to say the E60 is better looking. WHAT?! The very car you all hated is now better looking? Oh please just sod off! |

Brilliant. The glass mat battery etc. takes away zero performance so why would you get rid of it?

Everything looked so good until they revealed... the stupid thong line.
Hope in 4 years time they'll finally redo the hoods without that ridiculous Borat thong line. Everything else looks handsome and conservative. Great time to reintroduce sleeper cars again. |

finally!
must say i like the e90 theme/lines. will def exchange for a 550i (MANUAL!!!) with M sport. does anyone have a clue when the M sprt package will be available for this thing? btw. is BMW performance going to tinker with this too? like a recent tread suggests? if so when can we expect this? and does anyone know if that performance upgrade with the X6 (50i) will be offered for this car... cant imagine it being too much of a stretch doing that given that they are using the same engine... BMW should do well with this..hope the pricing doesnt stray too far from current figures. |

Hooydonk
My favorite Hooydonk tidbit:
"... the design for the new 3-Series will have to be even sportier,” he revealed.

The F10 is soooooooooooo BORING. It looks like a Japanese or Korean knock-off of a BMW. I can't believe that it looks like a 3 Series. The 3 Series was Uber Conservative. It looks like a bigger version of the 3 Series from 6 years ago. Now they just copied that design. BMW is clearly in decline once again and Audi is ascending. I will never buy or lease the F10 now. It is such a timid design. BMW did fantastic when Chris Bangle was Design Director. It was a joy to see each new BMW creation. They were all innovative, creative and fresh. BMW has decided that bland is best. Why would I want I bland, gutless, boring design in an expensive BMW? Evidently this is what you get when a bunch of conservative, old men on the board of directors micromanage the BMW design effort. They have designed a car for the nursing home crowd. The BMW Welt is such a bold modern building. It makes no sense to take delivery of the frumpy new F10 in that hip, innovative building. How can the same company be responsible for both? BMW must have hired elderly car designers laid off from MB and turned them loose on the F10.
There are many fine wonderful, innovative cars in the marketplace. Unfortunately the F10 is not one. It is bye BMW for me when my lease is up in 2010. I care too much about design to be seen in a bland, expensive BMW that looks like it just got off the boat from Korea.
