It's finally here!
Ok, after five months waiting finally picked up my F11 520d SE, and have to say it's amazing.
Was dark by the time I got home, so only taken a few poor interior photos, but hopefully will take some better ones soon. So, it's a week 45 build (combox), Space Grey, Cinnamon Brown interior. Pro Media Pack Heated seats Rear parking camera 18" wheels (328) Privacy glass Sport Auto Sport steering wheel Power boot Visibility pack (xenons etc) ...think that's it from memory! As you can see, the DVD player works.... |

Thanks! You're damn right it's cold here at the moment, but at least the snow has turned into rain... Seriously though, I always leave the AC on even in the winter as it dehumidifies the air so the windows don't mist up.

On antother note. I haven't yet see the Top Gear guys doing a review of the new 5 on their show. I read that Clarkson likes it a lot but don't recall that I saw anyting on their latest season. Have I missed it? |

Congrats on the new car.
I have ordered prof media as well, does that mean it has a dvd player or was that another option you specified? Thanks

No, it comes with prof media pack as standard, although only a single disc unless you've specified the CD/DVD auto changer (which I didn't) Pretty cool for sitting in traffic though!

Oh, and just remembered I also got the ambient lighting pack, which looks nice in the dark, much more understated than I expected. Also included the chrome trim on the exterior door handles like on the six-cylinder models, which was a bonus as I didn't think you got that on the 520d...

Thanks. Does the dvd pause when the car moves off or do you miss that segment?

It keeps playing, so you get audio, but can't see the video. Obviously not much use for normal driving, but good for traffic jams.

Thanks mate. Yes would be very handy for one of those horrible jams one gets stuck in a couple of times a year ie when a motorway just closes for hours. Thanks again and enjoy the car!

I guarantee you that no matter how much Clarkson actually likes the car, and how well it is portrayed from a technical, comfort and fit-for-purpose point of view: he will perform the now so predictable U-turn at the end of the review, telling us how it "lacks any soul" and "how German" it is, in some winceful and middle-class pretentious mocking. I think they only want to review sports cars on that program though, or muck about in the desert with a pile of bolts - which in fairness, can be quite funny - and it seems that this profile is what the program has largely come to represent, and market itself on. I believe it does quite well off the back of this profile. Any non-Sports car review can be taken with a pinch of salt on Top Gear. My £0.02 |

Could be worse, have you ever seen 'Vroom Vroom' on sky? Makes Top Gear look like a serious high-brow car show.... absolutely awful... End of the day Top Gear is 'car themed light entertainment' rather than a car programme, hence its ratings in the millions rather than the thousands.
