Cleaned and polished the car - felt like posting a pic
Cleaned and polished the car (Autoglym shampoo and Deep shine polish) and felt just like posting up a pic.
Won't win any photo awards but the car which is just over 2 years old now, still looks brand new. Photo is taken on what was the old Brooklands racing circuit. This is now Mercedes world, a rival to cars on this forum but worth a visit none the less. Car is a 530D Msport |

Nice angle too, I always found the F10 hard to get a good angel if compared to more aggressive E60, this one works, the other one that also works spot on for the f10 is front one pictures, I am referring to the M sport ones of course!

Nice and shiny.
How happy are you about the engine?

here's another shot of it taken not long after I got it. I've posted it up before but thought it was worth posting again. This is another angle I think the car looks good from. I also think it looks good from the rear as well.
As far as the engine goes. Well I came from a E39 530i MSport and I don't think you can ever say this engine is going to be as refined as a petrol straight six, but it is none the less very good. At idle, you can tell its a diesel but it doesn't sound like 4 pot diesel in something like a super mini. You know what I mean, that unrefined sound like a taxi! Once on the move, it is refined and because the car doesn't need the revs, it is very quiet. At 70mph it turns over at just 1500rpm. (This is with an auto box by the way). On the motorway, you simply wouldn't know it was a diesel. I love the way it moves with what feels like no effort. It very economical, or at least can be if you want it to be. My average consumption to daet over 13000 miles and 2 years is now 42.4 UK mpg although I will state that the car is used only at weekends on motorways and doesn't get caught up in traffic much, so that figure is really optimistic I suspect for most people and I'd have though 38MPG is probably nearer the mark as an average. Put your foot down and this thing really shifts and pushes you back in your seat. My 2012 model is quoted as 0.62mph in 6.0 s. Very respectful I feel. Its no M5 but I suspect most people real world don't floor the car that often. (members on this forum may be the exception!) Put your foot down from lights on a wet road, and the DSC kicks in. Even if you are a petrol head, if you are considering buying a new F10, I would strongly suggest you at least try one out and see what you think, it may surprise you. I've not driven a 535d (twin turbo 313 hp here in Europe) and that is even quicker. My personal view is that this is the perfect compromise , at least here in Europe with our high car and fuel prices as regards performance, refinement and economy. I test drove the 520d but felt the engine was not as refined and was missing something. You do have to bear in mind though that the 530d does cost quite a bit more than the 520d even taking account other options that are included by default with this engine. |
