Socket question
Just replaced my 2015 535 with a 2016. Something about the F body style. Anyway I notice that all the sockets on the 16 are live where as with the 15 all items plugged in would turn off when I shut the car off. Is this normal for a 16 or did the previous owner change something.

Having very little info to go on (in regard to options)…if you have Comfort Access…standing right outside the car with your remote fob on your person…it will continue to communicate with the car since it is within range of the antennas that pick up the remote fob when it is within range.
If the car won’t go to sleep (usually takes approx 15 - 16 minutes with no calls over the communication bus)…then (I guess you meant 12 volt sockets since you mentioned your radar detector later in the thread) your car isn’t doing its consumer cut off since it senses the remote in close proximity to the car. Again, there’s a lot of communication going forth with these modern BMWs. And there are multiple communication busses that are sending & receiving data depending on how the car is optioned. For example, the info below talks about the CAS module…but the DME and other modules are also communicating with each other and waiting for the SLEEP command:

My car is an'11, but the 12V sockets stay powered for about 10 mins after the car is turned off. Perhaps your '15 was the same and you just never noticed it.

I hardwired my V1Gen2 to the fuse box using an add-a-fuse. I found a fuse (don't remember which one off-hand) that was only hot with the ignition on. Works perfectly.
