Connecting iPhone X via USB
I’m trying to connect my iPhone via usb in center console to play music. It won’t connect. I’m using the Apple lightning usb cable test came with the phone. 2014 535i. Are you all using the stock iPhone cables or something else? Thanks!

There's a technique to getting the BMW app to connect. Make sure the Connected drive app is running and the car and ignition are off. Press the ignition button without starting the engine. Connect phone and wait, the phone should connect. Then start the car. This worked with my NBT before I retrofitted my EVO. It was always the case that the phone wouldn't connect if connected with the engine running. Good luck

Seems to be a issue with the NBT. Flash drives and all else works but when you plug in a iphone via USB it only charges with no recognition by the NBT. Strange as it works fine with the CIC unit with apple latest IOS.

Have you tried a different cable? I have a xS Max and don't have to do anything crazy. I have a 2016 and it appears it's stock software (maps are original from 2016)
