Post Is it bad to open the oil filler cap right after shutting down the engine?

I opened the filler cap right after I got home 2 days ago and added some oil because it was low. Then the next day, half the oil I poured the day before was on the floor. So know now I’m wondering, could I have messed something up by doing that?

Hey guys I’m trying to figure out an oil leak on my 14’ 528i. I walked out to an oil puddle overnight from what seem to be a small leak. I cleaned around underneath and left the car draining over night then added oil again hoping to see where it was coming from to see if it’s really leaking from the oil pan because replacing it’s a big job and I want to be convinced that’s my problem before going through all trouble. Thanks in advance!

No. Obviously there is something else going on, that is the question.

I’m really confused. To answer your question in the first paragraph, I guess you could have missed the oil fill hole.

The second paragraph ... i... ummm... What’s the question?
