Regular driving you will hit 8th gear VERY QUICK. Especially if your on the highway. Once in SPORT + the car is an animal. The gears switch so dam quick. This mod is great for dig racing as your able to stay in boost while switching gears with minimal lag. Havent tried the other stages yet and dont think i plan on it. Well worth the $350. I flashed using my Galaxy Note 8 and K-DCAN USB attached to it via USB-C. Took me 7mins to install and 2 Mins to flash stg 3. No battery tender
Thanks for the write up. Was skipping the battery tender just you rolling the dice? Or had you already heard you don't really need it for xhp

Would love to get some more feedback from someone with a stock snail running BM3. Preferably PWG.

My car is 2013 with PS1 pwg, BM3, I installed the xhp flash yesterday. I used my Fiio X5 3rd gen music player to install it. Took about about 8 mins. Transmission feels much more solid now. Gears shifts are fast in D and Sports. Sports+ has slightl jerks b/w shifts, like an m sport shifts. Before the xhp flash, i do think trans felt bit slippery. I do recommend it!

MHD Facebook just said they're going to update ots for xhp. Bada$$

Fwiw, my xhp install also took less than 10 mins. The stage 2 flash took only a couple mins.

Xhp says to take it easy the first 50 miles so no real review to share, except in Sport and s-mode it already feels like it's more responsive

Can anyone post a video?

btw - anyone know if this really impacts the longevity of the transmission much? I'm pretty sure XHP will say it doesn't.

Only in a positive way. Less time slipping = less wear.

That's what I'm wondering too. I also didn't bother asking them directly for the same reason, no offense to them.

Today I purchased the tune and flash stage 2. I am thinking flashing to stage 3 to see how that one works but later on. D mode in stage 2 is not much difference but S and manual mode the shifts are instant and no delay from when lever is pulled. I bet stage 3 is even more awesome. Problem I am running into now is that with JB4 + Manual mode gives me drive malfunction. The shifts are so quick that I think JB4 lags behind in giving right calculation for the dme.

Hopefully next week I am getting my pure stage 2 install so I am going to yank JB4 out and get MHD flashed done with custom tune.

Reason I say JB4 is because put it to map 0 and everything is fine.

Also, it literally took 3 minutes to flash + 30 seconds to flash stage 2.

Thanks for the review. Let us know if stage 3 shift even faster or not.

I dont think I will do stage 3 until I am on ecu flash.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that all mods now display what gear the car is in. Also, it seems like gear 3 picks up really nicely with torque limiter removed. The rpm stays in 3k to bring power instantly.

Agree with ziekxq’s review...although I'm a little less impressed overall but I think it's worth the money. To me, running stage 2, the biggest difference is sport mode with trans in S mode...seems to have the revs where I want them and car is snappier in general. Outside of that it improves things but nothing earth shattering to me

This should still be slower than a DCT right? The 535i shifting stock is snail slow. Have a m235i which is supposed to be the same tranny, but prob shifts 50% faster stock.

Stage 2 sport and manual mode instant reponse. I bet stage 3 is even crazier probably another 25 percent faster shifts then stage 2.

I wish they inlcuded custom license with the price tag (where most benefit of this tune is with changing rpm shift points).

From what I read it seems that stage 3 is the same as 2 except sport+ S-mode is race-track aggressive...ie it always keeps the revs between 3500-6500 or something like that.

I don't have sport+ so don't know what that'll mean for me. Anyways, I use Sport S-mode on stage 2 a lot and stage 3 would probably make that a lot less practical

what about that stage 3 maintains the rev in high all the time? how the car feels?

2900 to 3000rpm in S mode. D mode now changes gear super quick and you are in 7th orn8th gear fairly quick. The car does feel quicker now because there is no delay in changing gears.

Car feels great so far. Smooth shifts, when off JB4.

FYI... I am not blaming JB4, I am just sharing my experience.

I am still getting drive malfunction in Manual mode when doing WOT and changing gears. Seems like JB4 has a delay to match the demand of the quick shifts. It could be related to how my car has slow canbus reading but it seems like when I am WOT in M mode the car overboosts for a quick second and goes into limp mode when changing gear.

D and S mode are not affected by this and still shifts really fast. S mode does hold the gear for longer.

I am going to drive next 50 miles being easy on the car so that adaptation is completed.
