Last year I changed my F31 that I'd had since 2013 - close to 100k on the clock, and I'd had a few bits fail over the previous 12 months that had been a bit pricey to fix.

Managed to persuade myself that I didn't need an estate. Yes, I like them, I like the sheer versatility, but I didn't actually need one. I don't like saloons or SUVs that much, so the obvious choice was to go for a hatchback - and a late F20/F21 could suit me just fine, as it was RWD unlike the new F40 (which I'm not a fan of the looks of, or the drivetrain)

So that's what I got.

Yeah, it was a mistake. I miss that versatility, even in the current environment.

So, after spending a bit of time looking around in the last week, I've bought an F11 520d . 17 plate (so one of the last ones) in MSport trim, extras are pro nav, folding mirrors and EBT, and it's got just over 50k on the clock. AUC too, and (after negotiation) £15,500. Which I think is a bit of a bargain.

Got a week to see if I can sell the 1 series (had a couple of decent offers for it, and the part-ex offer is pretty good too), and it'll be all delivered (and, if need be, the part-ex collected).

Only downside is it is an April 2017 car, and was just over the £40k list mark, so extra tax to pay this year. But the dealer agreed to come down an extra £250 so they took half that hit.

Anyway, back in an estate, and back in a 5 series to boot (pun intended) - which I haven't owned since about 2009 !

Welcome to F11 ownership! I've had mine 3 years, and it has been superb.
I owned a F20 at the same time as my F11, and the difference in build quality and refinement was night & day. The F20 was replaced by a Golf 7.5, and even that is quite a bit more refined than the F20.
