Software update — bucking in low gears and driveshaft clunking

I recently bought a 2011 F10 and I have an issue with stuttering acceleration in first and second gears, and in stop and go traffic it's worse with the driveshaft clunking. I recently had it in the shop for another issue that wound up being solved with a set of new plugs. The shop said that my front driveshaft is making noise. I guess a new shaft is a relatively easy/not too expensive fix.

Would that noise be a result of the stuttering and clunking?

I have reset the throttle response system as per some posted on here to remedy the stuttering, but it only solves the issue for a short time. Would a software update from the dealer help this too?

From what I've read here (and other forums) the transfer case is a weak point.
