Post Testing F10 Turbo Inlet

Hello, I wanted to share my experience with the F10 community as this would affect all f10's especially the PureStage 2 cars.

For a long time of my F10 modding and tunning, I was always facing the same problem with my car. The boost would always taper down @6000+ RPM.
This was always my Issue as I could not hit my Target boost. The boost would always taper down to 15/14 PSI.

At first, I thought I might have a leak so I changed all Vacuum lines & boost solenoid, This solved nothing.

So before showing the fix and results, this is my cars mod's

2011 F10 535i N55 PWG 8AT | "Pureboost.de Tune" + MHD Flasher | xHP Stage 3 Transmission Tune | N20 3.5bar TMAP Sensor | Pure Stage 2 Turbo | GFB DV+ | Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP | 93 Octane Fuel | BMS Intake | ER 4" CLess D/Pipe | ER 3" Charge-Pipe | Wagner-Tuning Competition Intercooler | Custom Turbo Inlet Pipe |

----------------

So after reading a lot about the restriction in the F10. Many people commented about the restrictive Turbo inlet the F10's have. So I decided to install a bigger Turbo Inlet.

before doing that so I took a log of the car with the OEM Filter Intake + OEM Turbo Inlet

and it looked like this @ 5th Gear- 6350RPM

Look at how I am underboosting / WGDC is high
---

After That, I Installed My Larger Turbo Inlet + BMS Intake
and the log looked like this @ 5th Gear- 6350RPM

Notice the Very big difference in ( Boost vs WGDC ) I Was actually Overboosting!

So, I just wanted to do this thread to show how the Turbo Inlet Is really needed on our cars ( Especially if you have PureStage 2 ).

Topping all of that usually, I use DynoJet Application (*this application reads MHD logs to Evaluate 4th Gear logs to get your simulated wheel horsepower*)
I only use it to get a reading on the car changes and updated tunes Not to actually get a correct reading on horsepower.
Please before you say anything ( I know the numbers are wrong ! I am just using them to notice the difference in numbers if they went up or down to evaluate the changes in updated tune or mods ). And usually, after Tune Updates, I notice 5/10 horsepower increase and this just tells me that the tune is making the car happier and little stronger.

So, this is how Dynojet looked like before and after the inlet

I am happy to share my opinion about this matter if I am capable to answer.

Good info, good build. I just order PS2. I have the inlet from az here. But I only plan to run on 91-93 octane. What fuel do you run in your car?

He is only on 93 oct. I have similar setup same year and model just mine is xdrive and install happening next Friday.

OP thanks for the info, so now I am hopeful that I can at least hit 18/19 psi with 93oct. Also, looks like you ditched JB4 . Hows the experience JB4 vs ECU custom flash? Is the power delivery much smoother between gear shifts?

Right now I am taking names, if interested please let me know, once I have enough I'll begin the order process.

As said in my own build thread, I couldn't get over 16 PSI to hold with the stock inlet. I am working with a tuner right now, and also changing my JB4 from ISO, back to Integrated at the recommendation of Terry @ BMS. When I first switched it over I was over boosting to 26 PSI. While this sounds great, fueling and timing wasn't quite set up for that. I definitely think the inlet will allow maxing the PS2. I am hoping to run in NFZ AZ in March, and hope to get on a dyno before then. I haven't done much lately on my car as my house move has taken over the last 6 months of my life, and lately I have been working on getting my e36 back on track.

Good news, I am finally moved, old house should be up for sale very soon, and e36 should be ready together this week. Lift and climate control in the new garage. Yes, it's my e36 on the lift, not the F10. F10 hasn't made it on yet.

Much Difference between a Custom Flash and JB4 - All I got to say is I am not going back to JB4 ever.

A thing I forgot to add, The turbo sound now can be heard very loud and crispy even at low speed if I press the pedal to 3K rpm then take my foot off you get the turbo sound very clearly and nice

Do you get any errors about lpfp 2 stg2 regarding power too high for actual pressure?

Not sure how you would, our cars don't even have an LPFP pressure sensor. I have heard of some early models having current draw errors for pulling too much power.

From my side no errors. I remember when i had the JB4 i got some error for the STG2 lpfp the fault code needed to be coded out of the BEF for it to disappear.
But since changing to MHD-OTS no any error regarding this lpfp, Maybe MHD already codded the fault code out of their maps.

Doesn't apply to all F10's such as N63.
