Yup, you'll be able to re-install the under shield once installed

Underbody tray, yes. The tray the used to cover the bottom of the intercooler, no. The bottom of the intercooler sits about half an inch lower than the OEM one. I just tossed it after the install, not like you actually need it for anything.

So I got this mofo installed with my BMW Buddy on Friday, not as easy as it seems, fitment is TIGHT!!!, had to cut off some plastic on the back side of the radiator to get this thing to fit, it eventually fit with some manipulation, getting my hand stuck between the crossmember and pipe and a few cuts, but me and my buddy got it in. He was at the point that he was going to take the whole front end apart. Overall works, but we broke the "c" clip that goes from the boost pipe to the intercooler (the one on the passenger side) we changed out the stock boost pipe to a FTP since I had it / came with my Charge pipe as a combo, and we had the intercooler out, do you know if BMW sells replacement ones?? I can't find any of these clips online, only found the clip to the Charge pipe that goes to the throttle body. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, I didn't take pics, I ended up helping my buddy do the install, so my hand were greasy

Did you follow bullits5 DIY that he did on this same intercooler? He said it was tight but his went in with no modifications.

Here's his DIY, it's a great write up

Yah, I followed his post, stock intercooler came out no problem, but when installing the new intercooler and new boost pipe, that's where the problem came, you have to get the boost pipe at the right angle or else it wont go in. It was stiff as hell hard to turn, we loosened up the clamps that connect the the boost pipe together, there's and end piece that goes to the intercooler, a rubber coupler then then pipe that connects to the turbo, if you dont get the angle correct, your F!!c15ed! We were able to get it in, but that damn c clamp that connects the boost pipe to the intercooler broke......

For those who have this FMIC installed, any signs of boost loss compared to the OE IC? Its a great deal and clearly temperature is not an issue, but what about the boost? If it is losing 5 psi boost across it, that may be a huge difference that wagner beats it on?

Just received my G-Plus intercooler... with a dent in the coupler. Otherwise it looks good to me! Brackets were included.

More real data for people looking to make a decision between Wagner or G-Plus. 4th gear log attached. IAT initially drops but then climbs by about 10° by the end of the pull. I am unsure how this compares to the Wagner or VRSF.

http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d540f15c090c638743c4f0d

This was done right after doing a 5th year log where the IAT dropped slightly then went up a few degrees.

http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d540eb2c090c638743c4f09

My uneducated conclusion: works great for the price! The others may or may not perform better. It appears the G-Plus does like to retain some heat after repeated pulls but does not allow IAT to climb into an area that will pull timing.

Thanks for the update! What did you do about the bent coupler? Will that cause a leak under boost? Does the car run cooler? I'm wondering it they have an aftermarket radiators for the F10 and I don't mean OEM. Rather aluminum radiator

They promptly sent me a new intercooler, even before I sent the old one back. The new one was in perfect condition. It probably would not have caused a leak but it's a non-issue now.

Coolant and oil temps are unaffected by an intercooler in this application. I'm sure someone makes an aftermarket radiator, but I do not see the need. The biggest concern we have with F series N55 is the small stock intercooler not being able to keep Intake Air Temp(IAT) down. G-Plus has solved that for me and hard daily driving. I'll monitor if/when I do an autocross with this car.

in a different thread they talked about lag because of the intercooler. specifically the Wagner but i'm wondering if that's only because of the PureTurbo2 upgrage? i'm guessing with a stock turbo the G Plus should be fine? again, thanks for the reply. oh, did you upgrade any of the intercooler piping?

No lag was detected. Perceived lag could be there now that the turbo comes on much stronger, but it's not "lag". I would not expect that from this size of intercooler. It's bigger but not huge.

I do not have any real life experience with PS2, but any time it takes more airflow to spin something there will be some correlation to how long it takes to reach peak boost. That said, it's a stock housing upgrade and any lag caused by it wont be much from the logs i've seen.

I did not upgrade the any other piping. Stock chargepipe and boost pipe.

Agreed - maybe a little bit more lag after installing the Wagner but nothing to worry about (I'm stock PWG)

Are you referencing this thread?

https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1495900

If so, the guy found his lag issue, wasn't related to the intercooler.

No. I saw that thread. I think his issue was related to his install

I was referring to another thread where a member upgraded his turbos to Pure2 and with the Wagner IC he noticed a bit of lag. I believe he resolved the issue. I was asking a clarification if us guys with stock turbos and an upgraded IC would notice lag?
