Issue with footwell lighting

I just got a new 535i and for some bizarre reason, the footwell lights remain on while driving (I had a 328i where it would shut off after a min or when the doors were closed). Initially the center light (below the SOS button) remained on but I read in the manual if i hold it for 3 seconds, it would go away.

I tried playing with idrive but it is still acting weird. I have the convineince package on the car.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Not normal, I believe it's not something you can adjust. Maybe it's not recognizing that the doors are closed, but then the car would be barking at you if that was the case. Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order.

Sali,
I have this problem also. The passenger side rear footwell light stays on when I am driving at night. I only noticed this yesterday. Did you get the problem solved?

Mh?
Just the light which normally shines to the ground when you open the door. And only rear passenger?
Can't believe this is normal..... befor I had Software from 2011, now the 2014 and nothing has changed

It's ambient lighting. There are two LED's in each location. When you're driving, only one led is lit in the color you've chosen in the iDrive settings - classic(amber) or modern(white). When you open the door, both LEDs are lit in white for better visibility.

No it isn't.

I got an 2010 F10.
Only 1 out of 4 lights in the doors is doing this. Only right rear door. And it is the light ab the complete bottom of the door...
Light is switched off when car is locked and it is dimable.

Just to make sure, (different car, not my picture) - but THIS light (behind "alibaba.com")is switched on while driving.

I wasn't addressing your issue, I was addressing the footwell lighting question from the OP. I didn't notice the thread is 3 years old.

Driver door puddle light.

My 2013 BMW535i driver door puddle light now turns on with parking lights and remains on at night with parking lights while other 3 doors are off when driving. Any one have a fix?

I had this problem on my front right door too where the puddle light would stay on when the door is closed. 2012 535, purchased in sept 2015. And when driving at night, the light drives me nuts. My problem was a miswiring in the ambient door panel.

What I did or best way to check if it's a miswiring is park the car where you could really see the ambient light come on like in a garage or a low light parking lot at night. Inside the car with the doors closed and ambient lights on, check the faulty door. Check every ambient light (under trim, door handle, side door pocket) on that door to see if it's lit. If one of them is not lit up, that's the connection that is suppose to be connected to the puddle light. My puddle light was connected to my door handle ambient light. I than disassembled the door panel and had to reconnect the wiring to its right place. Hope this helps.

Hello,
I have been having the same issue just the back two doors. Also, I have noticed that when I first unlock the car all four lights works when you open the door. But I am noticing that after one minute the back two doors lights stops working when you open the door only the front I have noticed as well that when I’m driving back, two lights comes on and the only way to turn them off by twisting off the light dial on the left side of the driver in the front right under the left vent.
Anyone was able to get this sorted out or is there any solution?
