Mine’s XDrive. In Canada a new Timken hub assembly was $525!

BlueAngel After you completed tapping with thread tapper , have you done the thread insert ( a spring like structure inserted into the hub) and then providing lug bolts on top of it ..? or you just retapped and directly used the lug bolts..?

cause am planning to to lug conversion after tapping them , but am not sure should i use the insert or not .. does it have advantage ?

I used an M14x1.25 tap to chase (clean up) the original threads after the wheel shop cross threaded the bolt. This allowed me to keep using the stock wheel bolt for a while, but the threads in the hub eventually stripped.

My attempt at making a larger thread with an M14x1.25 insert failed.

n3985 i have used this helicoil and fixed the thread and on top of that i have upgraded to studs setup and using it now . i have not used any thread inserts or helicoil inserts , just tapped the thread and cleaned it and applied red thread locker and installed the studs and torqued to 25ftp.
