Newly added '14 528i x-drive
Greetings everyone. I would like to introduce myself as a new member here along with my newly-acquired 528i x-Drive (Luxury Package in Sophisto Grey).
So this is my 4th BMW. Previously I’ve owned a E36 M3, E46 325xi, and E90 328i xD. After the E90 I got a Cadillac ATS, which I loved and owned for over 4 years. Then I wanted to get something larger and been itching to get back to BMW. So a few months ago I found this 2014 528i Lux with 44k miles on the clock. The price was right and even though it’s nothing fancy compared to some of the F10 you see here, it’s just enough for a 4-season daily driver. I was on the fence with a 4-cylinder BMW but turns out the performance and NVH is very acceptable and most of the time it doesn’t announce itself as a 4-banger powered car. That being said, I do miss the chassis and handling of my previous Cadillac ATS. That thing drives amazing! One of the biggest annoyances with my 528i is the lack of rearview camera! Mine is one of those rare F10 that wasn’t equipped with rear view camera from the factory. I’m still debating on a solution, but not extremely urgent right now. Another future upgrade is to refinish the wheels (some clear coat peeling and pitting) and better tires (previous owner put on Kelly Edge tires, which I’m not a big fan of). Other repairs done are replacing front axle seals (mysteriously leaking at 45k miles), replacing the cracked underbody cover, reseal the left rear door vapor barrier, and pulled some small dents using a DIY dent removal tools. The front Germany plate you see here might seem cheesy but being in MI I don’t need a front plate and ended up with holes in the front fascia. So for now I use that plate (from my old M3) to cover the holes. Looking forward to be a member of this forum and to learn & contribute. Stay safe and stay healthy everyone!
