Dead iDrive Screen!?
Started my car, iDrive screen became fully lit, as shown, which I've never seen before, lasted about 30 seconds and then went completely black. I pressed multiple buttons and restarted the car multiple times, but the fully lit screen hasn't returned and the screen has remained black. Anyone see this before!?

Just do a hard reset and it should be fine.

Hi everyone:
Thanks for your prompt replies. While the problem persisted throughout the day, it resolved itself overnight. I e-mailed my service advisor the photo, inquiring into same, but haven't heard back. :| Looks to be an anomaly, but better not happen again! Thanks again. |

Just curious -- what model F10s?
My 550i had the lovely orange screen tonight. (It was actually a nice gradient from reddish orange on the driver's side to yellowish orange on the passenger side.) I shut down the car and re-started, which had no effect. I had previously set the destination in the nav system, and the HUD worked fine. (GOOD THING, as I wasn't all that familiar with the area where I was!) I found this thread, and went down to the garage, ready to reboot it. The car had been idle for an hour. I got in, started up, and the screen lit up just like usual. Not taking any chances -- I'm putting a note in the car that the hard reset is accomplished by hitting MUTE for 30 seconds. Thanks, all.
