Steering drive moderately + DSC errors

Hello,

since this january I have problem with my 2010 550i. There is some problem with steering and/or DSC.

Car says "steering drive moderately". Also orange steering wheel icon and DSC (like when you turn it off or when in sport+ mode) are lit on the dash.

However, the steering seems pretty much fine, apart my AIS (active integral steering) is not working (= rear wheels not turning) and I can't switch drive modes (comfort to sport+) and use adaptive cruise control (or even basic cruise control) and that assistant which tells you when you are about to ram a car ahead of you.

I don't get stiff steering or anything, as far as I can tell.
  • ISTA+ says lot of "signal invalid" errors (picture 1 and 2).
  • When I delete the faults, some faults are gone (picture 3).
  • So I perform "HSR initial operation" as suggested and also "Active steering start-up".
  • After that many of these faults are gone (picture 4).
  • After that I delete car's faults again and all seems good (picture 5 and 6) apart from CID (I have aftermarket 10.25" carplay display) and TRSVC (my rear parking camera is probably faulty, as you can see on picture 1 and 2).
  • To be sure, I performed another vehicle test, almost the same result (picture 7).

And now it gets weird, because there are no more steering or dsc errors, everything works fine, rear axle is turning too (I checked in mirrors), assistants, driving modes and cruise control are all working normally.

However after driving several kilometers (could be anything from 1km to 90km), even while driving straight, errors come back and I'm back to square one.

Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks a lot for any help or suggestions.

VIN is WBAFR910X0C268245 if you want to check specs.

Check your battery and your grounding straps, there are several throughout the car. Clean them of corrosion or replace as necessary.

Usually this kind of error appears when you have an electrical issue, such as a bad battery (most typical), or corroded / bad grounds.

This is a common problem on N63/S63 engines.

Hi,

I also have this problem on my BMW F11 and are very interested if you found a solution?

Because my BMW dealer have replaced a wiring assy and a control unit for about 2k in cost but it’s still not working and I don’t think they know what to do next.

Any help/info would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
