Both rear wheels small crack...advice?

Hey guys,

Got my rear tires replaced today (275/40, 18" 350M), and the guy at the shop found that both my wheels have a small crack at the inner lip (about 1cm/less than half an inch, probably not recent, I last changed summer tires 6 years ago). He asked whether I've been experiencing pressure loss, I wasn't, he said that's most likely due to the run flats being too hard on the wheels, put some black stuff as sealant and told me not to worry, but to regularly check pressure.

Of course, I can't stop but worrying now :-) I'll probably sell the car in a couple of years anyway, so it's difficult to justify spending 1k on new rims (cheapest I can find them).

What's your opinion shall I just ignore this unless I get leaks or do you think I should have them at least repaired? Ta.

Change the wheels! I had the same issue with my e90 and had to change 3 of the wheels. Don't try to have the cracks welded, it's not worth it.

I just had to replace a bent rim. Thank you Chicago asphalt.

Search ebay with the wheel part number for a refurbished wheel, or ask an indy about an exchange. Ebay may be cheaper.

Good luck.

I also bought my replacement wheels on eBay and they have been great.

Thanks guys, checked eBay - cheaper, but not much cheaper, so I'll splurge on new rims. Wheels are kind of important :-)
