Adaptive Auto Transmission Reset Procedure Issue (i think)
This isn't a question of how. As I have stumbled across this option the other day. I have a Carly OBD For BMW that has this function on it. I also read the simple steps of performing this task by:
1. Starting the car (not the engine) 2. Gas Pedal to the floor for 5 secs. 3. press the start button to turn off the car / release gas pedal. 4. Wait two minutes 5. Start the car. So, I have a 2013 528i X-Drive. I performed this task the other day and noticed quite a difference in acceleration. However, when coming to a stop the car Jolts pretty hard right as I come to a complete stop. This never happened before. Here are my questions: 1. Is this something that will adjust itself over time? 2. Once I perform the reset should I drive a certain way? Is there a method that needs to be done specifically? 3. Is the Carly ODB Adapter as reliable as the (manual) above method? This only happens has it downshifts from 2nd to 1st. I tested this when in DS mode. Any help is greatly appreciated. PS. I have researched this question and I get a lot of other peoples scenarios where there is a jolt in gears but usually it is corrected after the reset. My situation is sort of the opposite. |

I have had this issue for like 3 years on the car, couldnt get rid of it so I just deal with it. It doesnt happen all the time now though and is very random. Messed up part is when I was under warranty and took it to dealership for check it would not occur and than when I get the car back it would happen. So never figured out what caused it. Good luck and let me know if you can find something.

You should drive like normal so it can learn your style.
That is what it is all about, you reset it to factory so it needs to learn. Clunky shifting is usually the valve body (Mechatronics). This was a known issue on the E60, haven't heard about it much on the F10 but I guess it is still possible. There is some DIY's out there if you wanted to try tackling it. |

I am having the same problem with the 2 to 1 downshift lurch. My wife hates it and wants to sell the car. The dealer had it twice...charged me $160 to tell me there is nothing wrong. They urged me to buy 4 new tires to equalize the diameters of the 4 tires. I did that...and it helped somewhat. but the problem still remains. I remember trying the reset once-really didn't make a difference. So...any ideas what my next step is? Should I change the transmission fluid. Thanks Tasmanian |
