LED reverse bulb for F10?
Hi,
Has anyone successfully swapped their reverse light from halogen to LED bulbs without getting an error code? In case, I'd appreciate if you could give me some advice on where to buy. |

There are two type of blub for f10 reverse. W16W and BAY9S
Which one is in your car? The key factor is to choose the blub which is bright but not running too hot. Also buy the one with wide operating voltage such as 12-24volt. This means that blub has regulation not a simple resister. I would suggest that you replace both reverse and fog blub beside the reverse lamp. I replace for blub with red led blub to make it fully led. Codding is highly recommended. Although you can buy led with separate load resister, you can still notice a short blink for lamp check. Coding at module FRM 3090 Reverse => AUSG_24_RFS_L_IS_LED. AUSG_25_RFS_R_IS_LED Fog => AUSG_13_NSL_L_IS_LED AUSG_14_NSL_R_IS_LED I wold suggest bimmian blub as they carry high quality blub with separate load resister. However I recently replace bimmian blub with this one as they are much brighter and not running too hot. http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32463375768.html For the red fog lamp, I use this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Red-BAY9s-car-50W-2-Cree-xbd-High-Power-120-Offset-H21W-LED-lights-bulbs-/261508447934?hash=item3ce31e3ebe:g:liUAAOSws65ToCH r&vxp=mtr |

The ones you suggested for the rear fogs state "this is not error free led". Are you getting errors or flickering? Shouldn't I just get the same ones as the reverse (White)? The current bulb is clear. |

I like how they all just ignored you, WTF! I changed mine to LED tonight and I got mine from amazon, they are AllA LIGHTING T10 super bright 18 led bulbs they claim to be canbus error free. As you know I had my car coded last week so I don't have any errors, so I cant say for sure if they are error free. They were only $11.98 with free shipping.
The answer to your question from ME is yes, I put them to help see better at night. I haven't had a chance to see how bright they are because I can't see the back of the car while it's in reverse because I'm in the car. I need to have someone else put the car in reverse so I can see how bright they are. I'll report back when I can check it out, also I haven't been in any dark places to check in reverse how bright they are. Last edited by Teddylongtooth; 11-14-2015 at 04:50 AM.. |

Update, the LED reverse lights I have aren't any brighter than the stock bulbs. They are about the same, but they look better than the stock bulbs. I will put a stock bulb in and take a pic to compare, from what I can tell the led bulbs I got are no brighter.

Why ? load resister make the bulb unnecessary not. I prefer the one without load resister. This will make a bulb error on iDrive, but it can be easily overridden by abm coding. Flickering caused by BMW's bulb checking. It just injects a short pulse to check if a bulb is there, once your coded bulb type to LED, it will be no more short pulse bulb checkking. I also change T10 bulb in the cabin to LED. I bought CANBUS (with load resister) LED. In the end I have to use rework station to remove load resister to keep it running cool. White led will not work in fog lamp. It will be just too dim after red lens, it does not emit sufficient red spectrum. Only red LED or standard halogen works with rear fog lamp. I haven't put the halogen in yet to see a side by side difference yet, hopefully you are right. In your last post you mentioned led with load resistors making the build hot, I don't think it will be a problem for the reverse light since it's only on when in reverse and that might only be for 10-30 seconds. But for the interior or turn signals I could see it getting hot.

A small amount brighter but the light spread isn't as good. I picked up a pair from eBay and it came with built-in resistors. At least it looks cool haha.
Mine was plug and play without any coding.

I replaced mine with the one in the link
http://www.ebay.com/itm/161384748580...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT They are better then the stock bulbs. I did need coding. I also tried the same ones for the rear fog lights but they were not as bright for those lights. |

I just installed a set of LED reverse lights. Did not need to code with these bulbs...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Satisfied with hue and brightness. No problems with install. *Please note that my bulbs are H21W/BAY9S. Last edited by John H.; 02-25-2019 at 11:35 AM.. Reason: Added info. |

I did this too. I went through the retrofit source. I've had good luck with them in the past. I used bimmercode as well. No problems since, much brighter...
