Wont shift out of park.

Just had a used transmission put into my car. I have a 2011 BMW 550i rwd. The repair shop said they cleared codes, reset adaptations, and reconfigured the transmission. It wont shift out of park. He tested the voltage and says I need a new alternator because its cranking out 15.5 volts witch is high. Because of this, it turns off the modules so they dont fry. Anyone have a similar issue with your car and if so how did you repair it?

That is assuming what they are telling you is true.
To me it stands to reason that it was working fine before the swap.

Turns out it was the alternator, not the transmission. I thought it was the transmission because it wouldn't shift out of third. The alternator was pumping out too much voltage witch put the transmission in limp mode.

Thanks for the helpful insight! Sorry it cost you an alternator though.
