paint coming off top of door handle

Has this happened to anyone else? I just noticed the paint is peeling off the top of my door handle. not sure if this something I should get repainted. If I do, any idea how much this might cost me?

Damn! never seen anyone post issues with paint peeling off door handles before...you're the first! if you have any exterior carbon fiber components i'd opt to get the carbon fiber door handle covers. if not, you'll have to get it repainted

Do you have links to those? And would that affect the comfort access? I'm guessing it would if they're "covers".

actually... just went ahead and ordered these off of Amazon. It looks like they're made to support comfort access and from the pictures, it looks like it will cover the parts that are peeling off (which I can't stand to see every time I get in my car).

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm sure it would have cost more than $130 just to repaint the door handle.

Hoping they come sooner than later, but I'm fairly certain these are being shipped from China. So I likely won't see these til September.... which is a long time to stare at my door handles. It's really not that bad, but once you see it, you can't unsee it.

A- I have seen it before, I have the old door handle still cause I had never seen before

B- you cannot repaint those door handles as it will affect the comfort access. Those come “coded”from bmw in your color code already painted

C- pretty sure that you will lose all comfort access functionality with those covers...

I've actually seen a post here (though on the F30 subforums) where someone got similar covers and confirmed comfort access still worked. Also, these specifically had an option for with and without inductive doors, which I'm 99% certain is for comfort access. *fingers crossed*

It wouldn’t hurt to ask your local dealer if they can do anything for you. Clearly the paint is falling off of the handle and it’s factory paint...

Not really... you could have a fresh handle under the cover.

Very good point. But I really doubt BMW would cover paint on a door handle. And I can't imagine how much it would cost to replace the whole thing if they do only sell them painted.

Bmw stands behind their paint from any sort of rust defects for much longer then 4 year and 50k miles. I’m sure paint falling off a door handle would fit into some sort of category they might just take care of it.

Just received the covers and installed them. A pretty decent fit, but you can feel the edges when you open the door. It's a minor annoyance, but bothers me far less than looking at peeling paint (that will likely keep peeling off). The great thing is that comfort access still works fine on all door handles.

Ah, they leave a hole over the areas where comfort access needs touch. That makes sense. Glad you are happy with them.

Here's a side view. Really like how subtle it is on Carbon Black. Not sure how I'd feel about it on a lighter color.

Thanks! Now I'm considering painting/vinyl/plastidip for the chrome side markers.

I've been struggling on what to do with the markers on my CB 535i. Ideally, I'd like to install the turn signal repeaters from the pre-LCI models. My understanding is it won't work as the computer will sense the extra electrical load and throw a code. I've tried black (plastidip) but it just doesn't look right to my eye. Had I the funds I would just have it filled-in.

I'm still looking for a suitable solution...

how about vinyl wrap? I know your side markers are different but I don't see how vinyl would cause electrical issues?

It's the same look as all black. I've even considered colour matching, but to be that just looks like a missing option should be there. Like the black grille pieces that cover "missing" fog/driving lights.

I wanted the pre-LCI pieces with the indicator so at least that piece would have a function and look like it belonged.
