I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but my understanding is that the CPO can only be extended 1 year to total 5 years so after that we would need to purchase a 3rd party warranty anyway I assume.

Things are slightly different between Canada and US, CPO coverage used to be a bit better in Canada last time I checked.

My information might be a bit out of date, maybe something's changed in recent years but CPO in Canada was "identical to new vehicle" warranty until 160K km (apx 100K miles) or up to 6 years of vehicle age, whichever comes first.

It will show you the actual maintenance history with the dealer as claims made against warranty, among other things. Very useful document.

I've had 2 different dealers provide this for cars I was considering, so you shouldn't get any pushback. Especially if they're asking for a $5k deposit (that seems high--I've only had to leave $1k).

And good luck! You're gonna love the 535.
Thank you. Yes the car was serviced at the dealer only. I have asked for the service history document.

It would probably be better to just bank the warranty monies for any possible future repair. $5K will go a long way on the N55. Our 2102 535i has over 85K miles and still going strong with nary (well, other than the OFH and valve cover gaskets) a hiccup. Your, IMHO, only problem area will be the transfer case. They seem to be the F10's weak link.

Can't ever go wrong with a PPI.
Thank you. I plan to put not more than 5,000 kms annually on this car so maybe this is good idea however being a first time BMW potential owner, I'm still considering the pros and cons of buying the extended warranty.

I see there is no Carfax listed for it, I find that odd. I also see it has auto=highbeams, nice feature and one of the few my car didn't have.
I don't know why have they not posted it but they have sent me the copy of Carfax & it is has a clean record. The car is fully optioned with Premium Package, Technology Package, M Sports Package & M Performance Package.

It's your money, but you are playing with fire in my opinion, repairing these cars even at independent shop is not cheap.

Price is good, but it's good for a reason, I would look for one that's certified.

150 point inspection is worthless.
Thank you for your input. I'm getting the PPI done so I take your point regarding the dealer's 150 point inspection. I'm being told that CPO pushes up the cost (dealer's explanation) and I found that there are hardly any CPO cars in the lower mainland which I find surprising.

That's what my understanding is as well.

Thank you all for your valuable feedback and insight.

After protracted negotiations ended in a deadlock, I've decided to suspend the acquisition for the time being.

I will wait for a 2016 model with low kilometers (preferably below 50,000 km/30,000 miles). There are a number of cars coming back after end of the lease period. Will provide an update as and when I move forward.

Gentlemen, I'm pleased to share with you that I have finally pulled the trigger on a 2016 535i xDrive M Sport. The car had 16,900 miles on the clock with clean Carfax and full service history.

The car is in pristine condition both inside and out. It comes with the Executive package but sadly no Premium or Technology package so no blind spot monitoring or any of the other fancy electronic nannies. it does come with Heads Up display, Harman Kardon system, leather comfort seats and best of all the M Power package so I get a little bit of bump in power and torque (320 bhp and 330 lb. ft torque).

The color is Sapphire Black which I was surprised to find that it actually appears deep blue under artificial light at night.

The car was located 1,200 km away at a BMW dealership so I flew to Vancouver and drove the car back to Calgary.

For now its parked in the garage as I had to fly to Toronto earlier today for a full week for meetings.

Enclosing some pictures at the dealership and during the drive back.

Congratulations! I hope you meant that you pulled the trigger and not the plug, otherwise your car is already going down the drain or was on life support.

Wouldn't it work if he bought the "e"? Unless he had a V E R Y long extension cord

Vancouver to Calgary drive --- that would have been a fun drive through the mountains.

Congrats -- That's a beauty!

I had a Sapphire Black Metallic E91x with Russett Dakota (and 6MT) that I miss a lot.
