Exclamation LED Headlights

Hello 5 series friends.

I've really had it with my headlights but now I don't know what to do either. I have a 2016 550i M-Sport with the LED Adaptive Headlights. I'm sure a lot of you already know where this is going. This is now the 3rd time that I've had condensation get in to the headlights. The first time required a brand-new headlight ($3K), the second time we caught it in time and repaired before it was damaged. And now on this fine occasion, BOTH lights decide to fog up at the same time. One of the lights was beyond saving. I really don't want to keep buying the OEM headlight but finding aftermarket replacements have been impossible. Most of the options I find are either for pre-LCI only, or for non-US (unless heavily modified). The ones I do find for LCI are not compatible with LED headlights. Only for halogen or xenon. I'm willing to code out the adaptive headlight function if I can just find an aftermarket headlight set that works and plugs in to my factory harness.

I have found several aftermarket options on Ebay. When I reached out to the seller he said it should work no problem but that I have to verify the plug because he will not accept return or refund. Not very comforting.

My mechanic said he can probably find a broken OEM one and mix-n-match parts with my existing one to making a working headlight but I think even if he is successful, for how long will it work with the crappy track record these lights seem to have.

Please let me know what options are out there besides OEM because I'm really not looking forward to sinking another $3K on a crappy design.

These are some of the options I've found that I think don't work:

BTW, for all of the n63 haters, other than the headlights, this car has been solid since the day I bought it new.

Have the originals re-sealed and be done with it.

I wish it was that easy. But like I said, the left headlight is now giving permanent errors. For the high beam and adaptive lighting. So it needs to be replaced one way or another.

You can change the tms module and reseal instead of the entire headlight.
you could even try to clean the tms it with a brush and contact cleaner and save it.

Mine is intermittent, just malfunctions when it's raining or alike.

That's most likely the modules, which you can replace seperately. Don't let a mechanic tell you the whole unit needs replacing.

First time Iím hearing about someone with the condensation issues on the LEDs, always thought it was only the xenons that suffered from this.

i have yet to have any issues with my adaptive LED headlights. Take this for what it's worth but headlight seals fail 95% of the time due to the high-pressure washers at the automatic carwash. i hand wash my 550 *only* and when i do use a pressure wash foam cannon and rinse, i do not spend a lot of time around the rear and front lights, while using the gentlest hose sprayer attachment on the end. good luckl!
