G30 iDrive Touch Controller
My iDrive controller seems to finally be suffering from the stuck syndrome that seems to be attributed to the broken internal plastic ring. New one costs the same as a used G30 controller. I'm leaning toward the updated G30 version assuming design flaw has been fixed in new model, and to be ready for NBT Evo upgrade.
Anyone know from experience if the G30 version is fully compatible? Thx.

Thank you. Ok, supposedly one is installing an NBT Evo ID5/6, a) would the buttons on the current F10 controller be out of wack, and b) would the G30 controller then work without issue?

Ok def. going with the G30 then cause NBT Evo is arriving next week.
Do you know if the controllers are all the same? All the part numbers for the ceramic version come up as discontinued in RealOEM. Strange.

I call live with fault codes that I know aren't serious. My car currently has ceramic controls but I have no clue if the donor vehicle where the NBT Evo HU came from does. As long as it functions, I'm good.

Confirmed over the weekend with the shop that sold me my Evo HU and another reputable BMW retrofit shop that the G30 is not compatible with F10 as it uses an updated CAN communication bus. Bummer.
Exploring other options.

Maybe look for a flat controller off a F series? I believe some of the later model X cars had them.

Good call. Just ordered an updated Fxx controller (NBT Evo). The ceramic ones were only available on select models and are supposedly near impossible to find used because everyone doing NBT > Evo is after them. It'a gonna look off, but I can live with it.
