Didn't think it looked anything special. I'd want to go for Alpine White or Carbon Black though - assuming you are keeping M Sport non leather trim.
Agreed on the spec, but not the colour for me; however, that's a very personal choice.
I think it looks stunning in white and seeing as the oyster/black interior gives you the dark dash and door cappings, I think it'll go really well.
Also, white will be a far easier colour to maintain from the standpoint of stone chips. Modern water-based paints don't fare so well and, much as I love the Le Mans Blue on my E92, the ever increasing chips through to the white primer detract significantly from the pleasure of washing and waxing the car.
I suppose silver would be the most practical, but I find it such a ubiquitous and boring colour - there's always been an indefinable 'something' about a white BMW.

The Carbon Black Metallic is a stunning color. Photos don't really do it justice. In some light, it's a dark navy blue; other times, it's black. One of my favorite ways to show off the color is to have someone stand about 10 feet away for a front or rear 3/4 view, especially a little while after sunset.
Me: "Look at the part closest to you. What color is it?"
Somebody else: "Blue"
Me: "Look at the part farthest away from you. What color is it?"
SE: "Black"
Me: "Where does the color change?"
SE: "Um...wow...that's pretty cool!"

I had a Carbon Black Metallic E39 M5 for five years -- never got tired of looking at it, and the compliments never stopped. I went for a Monaco Blue E92 (which gave its life to protect mine), then a Jerez Black M3, which is, as far as I can tell, the same as Carbon Black. It's a GREAT color...really shows off the car's lines, too!

Good suggestion - thanks.
I had arrived at the same conclusion, but no 7 in Aberdeen or Inverness. I'll be near Edinburgh and Glasgow on Friday so I might have more luck.
Have you tried the comfort seats and, if so, how were they?

Good for you - I'm almost there myself.
I drove the 530d SE today and was pretty impressed. I'm definitely going for the 535d M Sport, but I'm still undecided about the Adaptive Drive. However, seeing as, like you, I'm coming from an M Sport E92, I'll probably go for it and have the best of both worlds.
One thing I was very impressed with was the comfort seats - they're an absolute definite. The side bolsters hold just as well as the E92 and by the time you defer the £900 full electric sport seat with memory and £200+ lumbar support options, there's nothing in it price wise.
You should still have time to change before the build starts.
When do you get the car?

My dealer said expect delivery for mid october. However, he reckons it he can pull it forward by around 2-3 wks. It's a waiting game now.

I went for Carbon Black eventually because convinced that black BMW's look very menacing!! My E92 which i part ex is also black sapphire.

Comfort Seats I gave a miss, otherwise it's a slippery slope to ticking the ventilated seats and then going for heated rear seats. I've already gone crazy on options, the dealer said to me its one of the best specs ordered so far!!!

I konw you have to start saying NO to yourself at some point when ordering all the extras but saving a few hundren pounds and not taking the comfort seats is a biiiiiiig mistake. I would even drop taking a 535d and take a 530d with comfort seats if budget was an issue for you. IMHO a 535d in england with speed limits of 70mph is an overkill - a 535d makes more sense in germany where you have accelrations between 70mph and 160mph (this is where teh second turbo really kicks in). However, if you have the budget, go for it but IMHO not at the expense of the comfort seats particularly because you do quite a bit of mileage.

OTHERWISE - GREAT CHOICE

I really did dwell over the 530d vs 535d and it was not easy! Especially as somebody who has driven a 335d over the last 2.5yrs. I take the point of comfort seats you make along with others, I think i will switch it on monday.

The other urgent advice I need is on MSport suspension vs adaptive drive.... Somebody please help before the spec is locked down!

back on e60.net there is now a good description on the msport vs adaptive drive topic. on top, on the german forum (motor-talk.de) there a loads of peopel who have driven both (sport suspension vs. AD). the majority say that if you prefer the hard drive, then m-sport is the way to go. the AD is too soft in the majority of their modes (comfort, normal, sport )and gives you the mercedes benz feeling. considering such statements i opted against the AD. why add all the AD weight if you really want the typical "hard" drive of a BMW.

My opinion, save the money on a the AD - with the extra money, ditch those RFTs and take some normal tires and you will be more than happy.

ps. if you think oyu had sleepless nights regarding 530d vs. 535d, you should know that i had sleepless nights bcause of 520d vs 535d, then 525d vs 535d, then 525d vs. 530d and then finally 530d vs 535d - all this over a period of 2 weeks (the first being during my honeymoon)
