I like the K&N version. It seals against the hood, but it looks to have better flow than the stock airbox

Very nice. I will add as my previous experience on my 2010 F150 the oil from the K&N ended up all over my MAF overtime which led to Ford replacing my MAF and advising me to get rid of my K&N now I have friends at Ford many of them Techs and very knowledgeable; I'm surprised to know that there is a down side to the small performance gains & sound.

Very cool idea's here. Anyone have any experience running these in summer heat. Is there a noticeable difference in IAT's?

Custom Ram Air Intake

I'm not sure if this thread is still active but I am glad I found it. The ideas in this thread helped me put together my own Ram Air Intake for my 2015 535i N55.

Hey bro the CAI was pretty easy to build. Here is a list of parts I used for my build.

2 - 3" 90 deg carbon fiber intake pipes
1 - 3" 45 deg carbon fiber intake pipe
1 - 3" 90 deg stainless elbow
1 - 3" 45 deg silicone hose
2 - 3" silicone couplers
1 - 3.5" - 3" silicone reducer
7 - 3" hose clamps
1 - 3.5" hose clamp
1 - cone filter

Remove all the factory intake components along with the air dam that leads to the front grill area.

Remove the right and left kidney grills to gain access to the louvers. Remove the louvers since they will no longer be needed. Expand the hole to accommodate the 3" silicone pipe. I used a heat gun to slowly expand the opening.

Mock the intake to the car with the intake pipes ( 90 deg elbow, 45 deg elbow, 90 deg elbow, 45 deg silicone pipe, 90 deg stainless elbow, cone filter)

I routed the silicone 45deg tube under the hood latch and to the front grill area. You have to trim out just a little to get the tube to come through just to the right of the grill. Once you have the pipe through, attach the 90deg elbow to the pipe and to the cone filter.

Tighten everything up with the clamps and you should be done.

Hi,

Where are you getting these parts from? Ebay? Aliexpress?
