is it jus me but around the corners does your 5 series feel like a boat? my wife was in front of me in her stock A4 and I couldn't keep up I'm no race car driver but I can handle the twisties jus feels sloppy on the corners and I would expect from BMW to have made a better handling car than this

My 530d with 17" wheels on comfort mode does feel like a boat.
What variant is the F10 and A4?

Like comparing apples and pears anyway, but there are differences across the F10/F11 range according to suspension/wheel specification. My F11 (with Adaptive Drive) is big, compared to a 3-series or A4, but no way a boat. HighlandPete |

Aside from reduced weight, I think if the F10 came with larger/ventilated brakes (as an option perhaps) then it would be a much better handling car. I recently saw a mercedes c320 with ventilated brakes and was actually surprised that BMW doesn't offer it for the F10 other than a M5. |

Unless you have an F10 with all the suspension-gizmo mods checked off or much better yet the more lowered 2013 M Sport passive suspension, your F10 will probably feel boat-ish. Good or bad, it's just the way BMW engineered the F10, and apparently the F30 is similar.

My 2012 528i Msport was RWD, had staggered wheel/tires, and DDC. - The steering and handling was horrendous. I couldn't wait to get rid of it fast enough. The 2013 Msport comes with the REAL sport suspension and much BETTER steering. No speed sensitive nonsense. Warning: The ride will be on the rough side over bad roads though. I know im in NYC.

Mine feels the same to me and mine does it with standard springs. It is certainly no boat. |

It's a damn fine boat that can outpace a Mini Coupe John Cooper Works from a standing start round a 40-45 degree bend joining the motorway
Standard suspension on 18" wheels, last night's commute. |

The F10 cannot even chase down a A6 in the twisties according to the car and driver test, what make you think it can chase down a smaller and better handling A4?

I had 2 f10 550i with dhp and ias, lowered on acs springs, 20in wheels with low profile pss. And yes, they are definitely boats. Even in sport mode, they can only be classifies as a speedboat.
So, I ditched the last f10 and gpt a f06 650i. Now I have a proper bmw without any mods.
