N53 CCV sucking in air

Hi everyone,

I'm having some issues with the CCV, I believe it is broken (the membrane), but I'm not sure how come it only happens that sometimes it produces loud whining noise and I've checked when it happens - it sucks air in from the breather hole.
What is weird that it only happens sometimes and usually if I'm parking and reversing, so at low speeds.

Is it normal that it's sucking in air at all from there and would it be safe to plug the hole until I DIY it and cut this plastic cover and change it?

Here's a picture to show where it is sucking the air in

Thanks!
