Question My car is on a lease...

So I've got myself a 2015 BMW 535i M-Sport and was looking at getting an OBD reader. I want to do something to my car but I'm pretty limited with a lease. So, I was wandering. If I were to do a few modifications with BimmerCode, would I get in any trouble over it? From my understanding, the leasing company doesn't really ever run diagnostics on the car themselves, they send it to a dealership get it cleared through them. I'm also under the impression that BMW dealerships tend to be more mod friendly compared to other companies of the same caliber. If you could name a few of the modifications you think I'd be able to do without re-precautions I'd appreciate it greatly.

Buy the car and then don't worry about it. Why waste (and yes that's what youre going to be doing if youre leasing it) on tunes and other mods when youre just going to turn it in when the lease is done?

Code whatever you want. All coding does is activate or deactivate something that is already there. Dealers, leasers, etc. don't care if that is all you are doing.

Adding parts, tuning, etc. --- that is something that you may want to be able to remove and make all stock before you turn back in.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm also glad you told me what could/would happen if I follow through and do some OBD coding instead of, no offense to the other guy that commented (I agree with him I just don't have that kind of readily available money), telling me what I could do to avoid worrying about a leasing company... Glad this forum is always ready to help

Sure you could, but personally I would feel bad screwing around with a car that is essentially rented.

If you end up buying it don't waste your time on Bimmercode/ICarly etc and just get a windows laptop, OBD2 cable and get in touch with a coder, who can do it all for you in about a 1 hour long conference call. Getting the coding software yourself to do it used to be pretty easy, but now a major PITA for the last "launcher" bit, so it's just easier to have someone do it for you. JM2C.

Tons of lessee's code their cars. Just note what you've changed and set it back if you're paranoid, but the likelihood is that they'll never notice as most changes are subtle (except, hey how come this car doesn't have the annoying lawyer message on the iDrive every time I start the car or back up?).

How exactly did you lease a 2015 car is my question?

I lease my cars and my F10 was fully coded when I turned it in.
