So a comparable car today would be the Dodge Charger R/T which has 370hp in it's V8. Comes with WAAAAAAAAAAAY more safety and convenience features and is far more reliable.

Oh, and MSRP is $30,575 after rebate, so still cheaper than the Chevelle.

I agree, hence my logic that you were incorrect stating that cars today are much more expensive than before. You can't really compare new tech and power output to the days of old. Even if you could, the average car is priced about the same today as it was in the 1960's, but has far more equipment, is far more safe, far more luxurious, and far faster than those of the past.

So cars today are not way more expensive than they were years ago.

That's also not true. I posted a comparison between inflation and wages on the first page. Wages have outpaced inflation in the United States between 1960 and today by an average of 1-2%. Certainly not stellar, but wages are higher today as compared to what products cost than then were in the 1960's.

Yet the COL keeps going up at a decent clip, the middle class is no more, the 1% get richer while the rest continue to get less. Yea, not true at all & the world is great. Oh wait...

So I just got a quote ....here's the damage;

P8F - Mustang Convertible GT Premium $53,005.00
12A - All Weather Floor Mats $150.00
19B - Active Valve Performance Exhaust $1,000.00
401A - 401a $2,350.00
41H - Engine Block Heater $150.00
52B - Black Accent Package $1,600.00
AIRTAX - Excise Tax $100.00
FREIGHT - FREIGHT $1,750.00
TOTAL MSRP $60,105.00
LESS: DISCOUNT ($4,031.00)
SALE PRICE $56,074.00
Omvic $10.00
Delivery Allowance ($2,000.00)
TOTAL SALES PRICE: $54,084.00
HST:$7,030.92
License Fee $32.00
SUB TOTAL: $61,146.92

i actually want the AUT0 so that's another $2k with taxes.

Before you all say "oh they will drop the price, money on the hood", similarly optioned USED ones are listed at $53K before 13% taxes.

So $63K to drive away.

I'll go a used 911 S at that point.

You know who is in the middle class, poor who went to high school and got a job, didn't knock chicks up before marriage. Everyone is mobile if they want to make an effort. You stay poor if you blame someone else and would actually rather stay there and not make an effort.

who in their right mind is paying 63k on a base mustang?

I just custom ordered a performance package 19 with tech package and a10 that will be 41k OTO, maybe less if December incentives and ford cash are better when the car arrives (potentially another 1,750 off)

9k for an installed whipple stage 2 and that's 50k for a 10.3 second car that will walk pretty much anything that isnt a supercar

Yes the interior is still lacking but the driving dynamics and engine tech of the 18s are great (with the PP)

It's Toronto, is what it is. I reakon they'd drop it to 60K out the door but that's it.

Left over 2018mk7 gti can be had for around 23$k
9$k into that thing with bolt ons and the EQT turbo on e85 I'll net close to 520+whp
On a tiny little hot hatch that barely tips 2850lbs
Yeah it'll walk away from that porker mustang while you have all the utility of a 5 door people carrier
We can go on all day

GTI here with similar options will be about $40K. It has literally half the horsepower, is not a convertible and hasn't got half the drama the Mustang has.

$17k is a lot of dough
33k vs 50k
They don't run 9s on the street on street tires good luck with traction
4000lbs is a lot of weight to lug around and your mpg will be good awful low teens high 9s

The golf will still maintain low 20s even if you drive it spiritedly
I'd always choose a car with 1/2 the power and 1/2 the weight
Drama on a mustang just means oversteer into crowds at C&C anyways

You can get a new 18 GT with the 10 speed for 30k OTD btw, mine had the performance pack suspension etc to prevent cars and coffee drama and I wanted a 19 straight from the factory that no dealer had had a chance to scratch up with a dirty rag

30K? Just CANNOT be right.

Even stripped of all options here a GT is over $50K.

This is a local autonation (ripoff) dealer selling an A10 18 with $2k tech package and a $500 3.55 option for $32k

You could get a base 18 for less OTD from a haggle dealer

Sales tax varies by state. In SC it would only total $300. Even in VA, I believe the sales tax would only be around $1,500.

There are no delivery charges at any normal and honest dealer. Tag and title fees would run about $75 in my state, others they might be $200 or so. Not much.

Dealer fees can nearly always be negotiated, but assuming you are bad at negotiating, then tack on an extra $400. (National avg dealer fee is $399).

We don't have excise fees or taxes in the USA for a new vehicle purchase.

So, total of all fees and taxes for some states would be less than $500. For others, maybe a couple grand at the most. Not significant.

Same. I had a 2017 right after they came out but 10 months later the family grew. It was a monster for the price. Leased at $500/mo for 15k miles a year.
