F10 Lowering with Adaptive Drive/VDC?
Does anyone know whether it's possible to lower an F10 with Adaptive Drive/VDC?
I rather suspect it isn't possible without major surgery, because of the adjustable roll bars and dampers, but I guess there's no harm in asking... |

No Problem at all Jon D..
My F10 535d M with adaptive drive/vdc will have the AC Schnitzer springset. The set is specifically for adaptive drive f10's and will drop the car 30mm. My BMW dealership ordered and installed the set. Costs about EUR 1000. Obviously, the Schnitzer springs are shorter thus stiffer but I don't expect a very harsh ride as the car has the adaptive drive/VDC system. I'm picking up the car this friday and will post some pix and thoughts.

A stiffer ride in sport mode is exactly what I want, so I'll make enquiries with my local dealer. I look forward to seeing the pictures and, more importantly, hearing what you have to say about the ride and handling. |

I used the RD Sport lowering springs (with adaptive drive) no problems at all. Definitely made the ride more sporty, been quite happy so far.

Normal price here in Europe. Got the same offer for springs and installation for the F11 from a dealer in Germany...
And yes, we also pay 110000 USD for a 535i F10/11 |

Hi Delvek,
Totally happy with the springs. First of all it fixes the problem of the F10 sitting too high. The 30 mm drop does miracles. Most importantly, the F10 feels planted, responsive and the car handles likes a Bimmer should. And it definitely does NOT feel like a boat. I would go as far as to say that the ride comes very close to my other Bimmer, a E92 M3. I've done about 50.000 kms with the springs so far. IMO the springs are only useful in combination with AD, IAS and large rims. Non-RFTs would probably make it perfect (I'm running RFTs).

With that said, you are 110% on the money. I couldn't imagine this car any different and glad you remain happy with the springs. The ACS springs plants the F10 and work perfectly with AD and IAS. I run often at 130mph plus sustained for 20-30 minutes plus and the three (springs, AD and IAS) plant my 550 so well its an incredible experience. I believe the last step to totalness will be when I purchase replacement tires soon, I will be going with the michelin pilot ss. 2 weeks until I travel to Hartge for their ECU mod, I will have to find some competition to hang with me on the A62 run ps. I am heading up your way late May with the wife and kids for some windmills and clog shopping, I hope the weather is fair.

A62! Perfect for straight line testing! I sometimes have to drive to Belgium because of my job, so starting with "Kreuz Landstuhl" the fun begins...

Btw, the most incredible stretches of the Autobahn in my opinion is the A20 in the NW corner past Rostock, can even couple it with a stay on the Nordsee (Baltic) which has some of the whitest sands ever but even in August some pretty damn cold water.

Local highway speed limit is a meager 120 kmh. And Dutch motorists lack the discipline of their German neighbors.

I wouldn't get a complex, lol, I think the world falls short of German discipline. No matter how long I live here I still am amazed but admit I do like it. You got us beat on recycling though, I have heard nightmares out of NL and curb side inspections. Luckily my wife is a full blown Greenie and feverishly (like a good German) separates!
