Hub Extender (for spacers) for F10
Does anyone make a Front hub extender that works with the F10?
I want to use 5mm spacers but need a hub extender to make them hub centric with my wheels. |

Its official, the VAC hub extenders for the E9X/E8X fit the F10 (well...a 2013 550ix anyway) so I am now rocking new 5mm spacers and hub extenders.
I measured the hub extender (lip) at 67.0mm which means there is a slight interference fit with the hub ID at 66.9mm The hub extenders add 12mm to the hub so you could run 5, 8 or even 10mm spacers without hub centric rings. |

I need a hub extender for my 5mm spacers. I have 2011 BMW 535i Xdrive but the inside hub measurement is 66mm. I thought all F10 are the same.
So the VAC hub extender E8X/E9X won't work since you measure it at 67mm. VAC hub extender E38/E46 might work since it is measure at 66mm base on this post: https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1103312 I shot email to VAC sale and still waiting for their respond. Is there anyone else can confirm this for me? |

This VAC hub extender for E8x/E9x (inner size 67mm) is 1mm bigger for the BMW 535i xDrive. The caliper is as precise as it can be. I should trusted my instinct.
The VAC hub extender for E38/E46 (inner size 66mm) would fit perfectly it 66mm inner diameter. (confirmed measurement - https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1103312) Anyway, I was able to file it down to fit the hub bore. Testing over 20miles with attempting to hit all the potholes out there. Still didn't fall off. I called it good. Last edited by cambnaz; 05-04-2020 at 09:04 AM.. |

Reviving an old thread.
I currently have 10mm spacers with my 343m front wheels. The more and more I look at the car the more I feel that the front wheels stick out more than I like, thus I want a smaller spacer but want to stay hub-centric. I actually tried removing the front spacers all together but because of new brake pads, the wheel will no longer clear the calipers. Urgh Option 1: Go down to 3mm spacer just to clear the caliper and help the wheel sit a little flush with the fender. The question is, is there enough room on hub lip for the wheel to "safely" be hub centric? I read that the stock lip is 10mm wide, so that leaves 7mm for the wheel. Option 2: Go down to 5mm spacer, with would definitely allow the tire to be perfectly flush with the fender. For this I would need a hub extender. I couldn't fully understand the posts in this thread, but which of the VAC hub extenders would I need to get, E8x/E9x or E38/E46? I honestly would prefer option 1 if I can make it work, but would love to hear opinions and experiences if it would even work.

My choice would be to avoid the hub extender and go with 3mm spacers if they allow the wheel to clear the caliper. The hub only has to center the wheel while the lugs are torqued. Once torqued the wheel isn't moving.
Either way, the more robust setup would be to use the factory hub. 343m are a nice front fitment right out of the box, and I personally dislike ANY poke, hence my vote for the thinnest possible spacer. Unless the car is lowered, which pulls the top of the front wheel inboard and could justify a wider spacer. |

Getting a pair of cheap 3mm spacers from Amazon to try out before ordering good ones from ECS. We'll see how it goes.

For those looking to get the hub extenders:
At least on the xDrives, the E38/E46 hubs work. The xDrive hub ID is ~65.8mm, and the hub extender is ~66.1mm. Best way to get them in is to freeze the extenders and blow torch the hub, kind of like how you do supercharger pulleys. The main "problem" is that it IS tight and not fall off by accident, but you'll need a slide hammer to get them off, which most advance auto/autozone stores will rent you. Once you have these extenders on, you'll need to commit to a 5mm or larger spacer, since anything thinner will result in your center caps not being able to fit depending on the wheel.

Are you using a 5mm spacer on your front 343m?
Also, be careful you don't put too much heat in your hubs. You don't want to burn up the seals or grease in your wheel bearings. |

I must be in the same boat as you with the 550i xDrive. I ordered the 66mm hub extender and it's too small. I finally got a new micrometer (lesson learned, no more cheap plastic ones) and measured the ID of the hub. Sure thing it measured ~66.87 for my car. Need the 67mm extenders.
I also see they now have an F8x option. Anyone know what the diameter of that one is? Calling VAC tomorrow to see if I can do an exchange.

They both are hub centric spacers the 3mm and 5mm, do you think the 3mm will cause a vibration still? The website says: To avoid vibration, 3mm spacers work best with wheels that have a flush mounting surface. Wheels that have a bevel around the mounting surface will not be fully seated on the hub and a vibration may result. I think the 343m has a bevel right? |
