2013 535i Software Update Failure
Hi everyone, I have a 2013 535i. I recently went to a local bmw shop to have my car inspected and have the software updated (official software from BMW). After the update, all the modules were properly updated except for the HU_NBT. It refused to update and now I have a blue screen on my idrive saying "flashing time 00:00:00." I am unsure of what to do.
I recently tried to code it myself but esys 3.27 will not let me create a TAL file as when I go to enter my i-step, it says unavailable. I saw on another forum that 3.33 will have the functionality but that requires launcher 3.7 which requires an account and access code, which I can not find how to create anywhere. I've hit a wall and am unsure how to bring back my idrive system. The bmw shop said to take it to BMW, maybe they'll have some "extra" tools but I doubt that will help. If I go to the dealer, I have a feeling they will want to replace the whole Idrive system and I might as well retrofit at that point but I'd rather not drop that kind of money if need be. I liked my current system and would just like to bring that back. Would anyone have any advice or tips on how I can restore my idrive without breaking the bank? Thanks. |

I have the same problem. Head unit failed during programming and now it's stuck at the blue screen. What did you decide to do with yours? Do you know if a head unit out of another vehicle will work? I have heard that it will but I am not sure if this is true. I was going to order one from the dealer, but they are on backorder, they said BMW in Germany will get a shipment on 1/24/22 then it will need to be shipped to the U.S. I don't really want to wait that long.

That is $2500 part from the dealer more or less, I wouldn't do that.
You can't just plug in any used headunit out of a used car. It will need some flashing and FSC codes for your VIN. If you look around you should be able to find like for like replacement for around $500, or an upgraded unit with Carplay for a little more than double. Flashed coded and ready to go that is. |
