Odd after I coded VLD with bimmercode I only noticed my headlights go up and down like they always have on startup. They do not move left or right on startup. Only thing I did not do change is the VO for it.

You also need to wait for 90s before you adjust the LED headlights as adjusting them before they go into a diagnostic setup, will only move them back to original position after a sleep cycle. You should turn the ignition on but not start the car, wait for 90s, then adjust the headlights.

The down/up movement (only) at start up is only indication that the "reference run" for adaptive headlights was tested. VLD's "reference run" will move the driver's side headlight 12° to the left as well as the down/up movement.

While idling and in drive...do you see the driver's side headlamp sweep 12° to the right if you engage reverse..then sweep back left 12° when drive is re-engaged? If no, then VLD is still decoded (not working).

This is shown in the 2nd video I posted.

Can you please post the settings you changed for VLD? Also I have coded anti-dazzle headlights on my f10 using bimmercode and they work.

The two LeMaster parameters below is what I used to code VLD...it only worked on my 2014 f15 X5 and the coding parameters were found in teh BDC (body domain controller) module. It did not work for my 2013 f06 650ix GC where the exterior lighting is controlled by the FRM (footwell module):

Is a VO change required?

No, VO coding is for 2 things:

1. Easier coding. You add/remove the option from the FA, and just code the modules. It'll set all the relevant FDL codings to the proper settings. Think of it as a factory reset, but you changed what factory means a little.

2. Dealer won't wipe out the coding. Because you changed what the factory default is, when the dealer updates or resets the module for whatever reason, it'll preserve the VO changes. So you don't have to go back and redo the FDL codings for VLD.

Honestly, if you're just adding and removing package options like adding VLD, adding 2TB (sport automatic transmission), high beam assist (HBA), etc, VO coding is the proper and much better way to go about it. Just requires E-sys. What Bimmercode does is FDL codings. FDL codings is just the slow and more tedious way to do things. Think VO coding as 2 x 5 = 10, and FDL coding as 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10.

I was just wondering if re-coding the VO was required for VLD. I did the VLD coding that Qsilver mentioned with no effect.

No, VO coding isn't required, it's just a better way to code. Maybe your FDL codings got wiped somehow?

Not a chance. I did it last week and checked it out that evening. No change on start-up.

Hm, not sure. You have adaptive headlights, so not reason it shouldn't work.

So I just came across this video and the led headlights on an euro car seem super bright. Is this a coding option?

My headlights are not even close to being this bright with the same headlights. Only difference is my car is a Canadian version.

Mine are bright, but nowhere near like that either ^^. I was able to code my LED Halos to 100%. I think they were at like 60% stock. However, I don't think that you can code the headlight LED itself. If you can, I'd love to do that.

Wish I had tunnel mode..or maybe I do, but can't tell because my lights aren't bright enough.

Although I also suspect there's a small difference in brightness between different regions, the brightness from the video may due to the camera enhancing it.

Anyone willing to "trade" my headlights with your "lousy" LED headlights....of course you'll have to swap harnesses too...

This is what you get from me...

With everything else you've done to the car, the LED headlights will fit right in and make you quite happy!!

Honestly was thinking about upgrading the lights to LED...a pair runs about $3000....still debating.

This thread did make me pause...but definitely would do it for "free" (aka swap) given the chance.
