Doors unlocking and unlocking by them self.

I have a 2013 535i with a little over 95,000 miles. A month ago my door locks start acting crazy. The driver door wouldn't unlock when I was getting out of the car. I had to press the button inside to unlock the driver door and sometimes it would unlock but when I tried closing the door the latch was striking something that prevents the door from closing. This would happen maybe two time a week. Well today it really went crazy I had my remote in my pocket and walked pass my car and the doors just started unlocking and locking by itself. I could hear the actuators clicking and the locks going up and down. I didn't touch the door handles or the car. I tried pressing the lock and unlock button on my remote but it kept unlocking and locking by itself. (all doors). It only stopped after I would get a good distance from the car. I changed the batteries in my fobs and it still do the same. I appreciate any info on this problem.

Lol yeah I had the demon experience twice already this year. It's the comfort access system going crazy due to a bad door handle sensor. You need to find the bad handle and replace it.

It's gonna be a process of elimination. Disconnect one handle at a time to pin point the bad one. Then you'l need to take a chance with a used one on eBay (~$75) or buy new ($450). I had 2 handles go bad (thx 2020), but luckily both used ones I got on eBay were good.

Thanks for the quick reply. The driver front door was the one that always to act up. So I will start there first. Thanks again

The bad CA will be warmer compared to the others too. Glad you caught this before it drained your battery over time

That looks like the right part number, but strange the pictures don't show the CA ridges on the handle.

According to realoem.com should be 51 21 7 231 931. That's for an LCI, not knowing your model or year. Go here and insert the last 7 of your VIN.

I had the exact same issue and it was a passenger side comfort access handle. You're definitely on the right track!

just for info. I had this problem for a day or two and it went away. The shorted door handle will start to eat the battery and the drain warning showed up. Eventually, it will blow fuse #2 (after 8 months). And the dashboard will light up nicely

Center console - restraint system, brake system, chassis stabilization malfunction, flat tire monitoring malfunction

Error codes:
CD9437 - DSC, FlexRay: Communication fault
CD9504 - No message (request, wheel torque, drive train, sum, stabilization...
CD9A04 - No message (actual braking torque, sum...)
CD9B04 - No message (actual wheel rpm...)
CD9F04 - No message (DSC stabilization...)
CDA304 - No message (vehicle standstill...)
CDA493 - Message (nominal distribution longitudinal torque front axle) missing...
CDA494 - Message (nominal braking torque) missing
and a couple of transmission codes

Basically, you can't drive until you fix the fuse and the door handle.
For the door handle, so far I disconnect the power (comfort access); handle light still on, with the remote working, maybe I'll find a cheaper handle at some point.

so yes, don't ignore it.

Got my door handle today that I found on eBay for $97. They sent the complete locking mechanism. I used only the handle and every thing worked perfect. The removal involved one plastic cover and one screw. It worked perfect. I could have purchase the handle on amazon for $45 from China but it would have taken about 3-4 weeks to get here.

My 2012 535i xDrive has a similar issue. If I walk near the right rear quarter panel the car repeatedly tries to unlock (whether locked or unlocked). The right rear door handle was replaced under CPO, and I have disconnected the handle and this does not resolve the problem. I also get notifications that the remote is not recognized by the car and will not start without placing the remote near the steering column. I occasionally get the battery low / disconnected message. Most of this, except the unlocking, is intermittent. About to disconnect the front door as well to confirm that's not the issue (I really don't think it is as the unlocking starts as soon as I walk around the rear of the car), but could it be related to the computer / fuse panel located in the rear passenger quarter? Saw another post where a loose connection in the console / antennae can cause similar issues..... Dealer's solution was to sell me a $600 fob/key and tell me that my fobs both had faults....darn $600 key does the same thing....
