Does my turbo look okay? Any feedbacks are greatly appreciated!
Hello,
I am in the process of changing oil feed and return lines for BMW 528i and wanted to get a second opinion on its turbo. The mileage is at near 160k miles and we are not sure if the turbo is new or replaced (my relative's car bought it used). I saw several youtube videos including the one by FCPEuro and I think mine looks okay because of no excessive "tinkering" noise and no oil found inside it. If it will last few more years, i don't mind going under the car again for them again. Me checking it's condition: https://streamable.com/1zdsnv Front(?) side: https://streamable.com/k5ek51 Rear side: https://streamable.com/pr1xai Last edited by watchout-everyone; 02-12-2025 at 03:12 AM.. Reason: Forgot to write the links for my videos smh |

What difference does it make if its new / or the original? Is it not working correctly, what makes you concerned about the turbo?
BMW has a built in self test for the turbo components/waste gate actuators. The turbo itself you look at it and see if it has shaft play, and or damaged/eroded blades. But you'd only check if it wasn't running correctly. Turbos can last a long time, my pickup is 340K miles on the original. |
