Recently, I was not paying attention and I backed into a guardrail. The top of the rear bumper now has a crack in it. Is this something that can be repaired or do I need to replace the entire rear bumper cover? Note: I am handy and do all of the mechanical work on our cars. I could remove and replace the rear bumper cover no problem.

Bumper covers are easy to pop off:

Try removing it and reinforcing it from the inside. It won't look perfect, but you can DIY and avoid the costly repaint. Basically what he did on the inside from this video:

If you do go for repaint, find a hot rod/custom car type shop rather than a collision shop. Drop it off and they'll give you the best price (typically).
