I have traded in my 2016 BMW 550i xdrive for a new to me 2022 BMW M550i. I wanted to leave everyone with my experience with owning a 105K mile BMW. The CAR had a N63TU engine, and it was my 3rd BMW V8 (N62 and S63). Overall I'd say it was the most reliable BMW I've owned and 6 years I owned it was less expansive then my 2000 Ford F-450 in repairs.

What went wrong shortly after purchase say 1000 miles (purchased used with 57353 miles in 2019), I purchased it with an extended BMW warranty.
* Evap canister valve failed
* Xfer case failed (vibration)
* Leaking oil pan

Over the lifetime
* Guibo 2x, front Guibo 1x (warranty)
* Front lower controller arm (warranty)
* Turbo Pneumatic pressure converters
* PCV System (DIY)*
* LED adaptive headlight failure (replaced headlight and modules)
* Center console storage door broke off DIY replacement
* A/C compressor died (just before trade in)
* Oil pan leaked again at 90K miles, Indy repaired
* one BAV auto coil pack failed with 5K miles on it

That's it, for repairs. *PCV I replaced preventatively as I race the car. Also replaced the spark plugs and coil packs at the same time.

MODS 90C thermostat, used Certac, wlll be flat tires, cracked nav for lifetime udpates.. No bad valve stems, no injectors, no turbo leaks, no coolant leaks and still on the original expansion tank. Never burned any oil between changes.

I did replace the trans fluid and front/rear diff fluid at 60K miles. I also swapped the power steering fluid at 4 and 8 years along with coolant flushes at 4 and 8 years. Brake fluid as recommended, brake pads 1 rear set DIY, T-stat DIY.

No electronic problems, soft close doors, power trunk, h&K audio and nav all trouble free.

Interior was excellent no cracked leather, leather dash was fine, no buttons where loosing coating. Was going to replace door handles as they were gooey in Houston heat.

No rattles or creeks, no lights burned out, no power window failures,.

So over 6 years of ownership it was fairly trouble free. Far better than my 2011 X5M, X5 4.8i or shudders 2011 335d!
