blower motor replacement and swapping cabin filters out

Hey guys! Trying to be a bit more active again with the F10 community. Just wanted to share my experience with the common blower motor going out on the F10. But here's me making a video on how to replace the blower motor as well as changing out the cabin filters. I have not change these out since i owned the car

Also stay tune on upcoming videos as i change the dif insert bushing from Bimmerhaus Performance on the F10 as well as finally getting around to installing Bimmerhaus Performance F10 intake system!

The blower (and the deteriorating foam) replacement is stupid easy. The filters, not so much.

Quite a long time! I figured you were having more fun with your Porsche. I always loved your F10 and missed your pictures! I am a bit jealous of what you've done to your car and would like to replicate it, but being a humble retired civil servant prevents that. Then there are the grandkids that take up more than just time !

Due to the decommissioning of 3g, I opted to trade the 2012 in for a 2019 G30. I use the RTTI and BMWOnline quite a bit, and there was no real economical way to update to 4g or 5g in our 2014.

yeah as soon as I got the Porsche all my time and energy went into that which kinda open the doors for me when it came to Sponsorships and the big car show events like SEMA! but i still have my BMW and still doing things to it. Not as much as before because I'm pretty much satisfied where it's at. Looking to bigger and better things like another BMW...preferably a SUV and the next Porsche hopefully by next year is a GT3RS!

Enjoy the retirement life!

lsturbointeg, what is your thoughts on the fan motor? Don't expect to hear that it is equal to BMW original quality, but $38 versus $281.41 is a big price difference

so far so good! I've been driving it for the past few days with no issues! windows defrost much faster. air blows at full speed. I didn't show it on video but I was comparing both motors and really they look identical to each other. I wouldn't be surprised if they all came out of the same manufacturer and just rebranded like most things. I mean if you go to Amazon they have dozens of these with all different names but I'm willing to bet they're all the same just rebranded. But yes, the price difference is huge! Was it worth trying...ABSOLUTELY! if the motor fails ever fails I will be sure to report back!

Thanks for the lead on the blower filter... when I did mine the first time it was the whole unit which I thought was pretty lame. Next time, I'll be set!

no problem! hoping to help people save money before buying the whole unit. I saw a video where a guy made his own filter out of some kind of mesh material...almost like a green pad that you use to clean dishes

I saw that, and considered it! I tried to do a janky one out of screen mesh, but wasn't happy with the results (probably functionally fine). In the end I put out the $$$ for a new one. Such a waste of resources, but it wasn't as crazy-expensive back then, either.

That's what I did. Got some foam off eBay and hot-glued it on the frame. So far so good, and if/when it fails, I'll just do it again!

Where does this cable goes? It come from the main branch, try to put the bumper, but don’t know where to attach this one?

Look for the matching end. Maybe, just to the right of your index finger?

There is literally nothing around there or the bumper that has a free connection for this. The only thing we can think of is whether there is a sensor somewhere we removed, but we can’t find it or anywhere it would be secured to… it may just be an unused plug, but sounds unlikely…
