It is not specifically a RFT issue either, I run RFTs on both my summer and winter sets, no vibration issues at all, at any speed. Vibrations through a car in a particular speed range are normally associated with wheels, (rims or tyres) or other rotating drivetrain components. Even perfectly balanced wheels can mask tyre defects, so is essential to try other wheels to eliminate. Replacing tyres, whatever type, can of course solve the issue, you are rid of the problem tyre(s). |

I basically accepted that switching out the run flats 'hides' the problem rather than resolves it. In 2yrs I'll get rid and move on.....

A good wheel tyre place will do this - especially after you can eliminate the wheels and tyres. The vibration has to be coming from somewhere!

Interest to hear everyone's experiences. My local BMW dealership originally suggested it was a different type of tyre on each wheel and that they were unevenly worn, but to be fair, doing it with any tyres and wheels means it's a load of the dogs proverbials... it does it with all wheels and tyres.
I think it's very hard to diagnose and therefore many owners, lots of us included, put up with it. It's annoying as to me, with OCD, it takes the edge off what is a brilliant and highly capable car. |

Never had that on the three F10's I've had over the years, the 550i and LCI M5 and now this 535d M Sport all have been faultless TBH.

Personally I try and fault find myself, but customers shouldn't have to even try. I try and eliminate the obvious, in this instance I'd ensure any vibration isn't road surface influenced. Get on decent surfaces and see if it goes away. If it is the same, it has to be 'driven' from the car itself. Is it in anyway coming through the steering, indicating it may be front wheels. Different gears at the vibration speed, a variance steers to possible gearbox or torque converter issues. Etc., etc. I know the list can go on, but garages should have fault finding skills. |

Except in reality it's never that simple - they can't find it first of all, they don't settle into a 200 mile drive where it really starts to grate and the more you go in without them finding anything the more like Walter Mitty you seem to come across and the more you doubt your own sanity

It's a wonderful idea to get the dealer to fix it, but I live in the Netherlands and having the local monkeys try and fix it is not a good idea. They have less knowledge than a thick Neanderthal, and their solution would likely be to replace wheels to see if it works. It is naturally out of warranty.
I'd rather replace the car (bear in mind my car is 80k new here, gotta love the luxury tax..) than spend 5 grand replacing bits trying to fix it. It's simply not worth it for a bit of vibration. I too have had multiple 5 series and this one is the first to suffer it, in fact the first of many BMW's to suffer it. It's one of those things. But if anyone comes up with a miracle check that seems to fix most of them I'd be over the moon to hear of it! Easiest fix though? Feck it and buy a G30... :-) |

If so, then the first check has to be on what has been changed. Is that just the tyres, or the wheels and tyres ? |

Always since I bought used. Have just heard about wheel hub spigots.
Getting new rear discs and pads hopefully tomorrow so I’ve bought the spigots to fit while he has the wheels off They line the wheels up properly with the hubs 53k by the way |

I didn't even give it in for that, the guy saw and fixed it and told me about it. Haven't had that issue been a year. I've seen so many posts about this, might be a common issue in F10s |

The spigots didnt work for me. They fitted OK on the hubs but too big to fit inside the wheel core so my wheels are at least genuine. I took the wheel off, cleaned the hub from all the muck and grease but no different. I get the new brakes on Wednesday next week so fingers crossed, but I'm not hopeful. I wish you could be more specific about the diff? Thanks Daren

The muck and grease is not the issue here for sure (my opinion). I had this issue for a while, BMW was clueless about it, 5 different service Centers. I had two brakes and rotor changes in this time and that seemed to help temporarily but the issue always came back. Like I said above don't know too much in detail I guess I could ask my guy but that could take a couple days ngl. |
