Damn I didn't know that, i've never financed through a dealer, just use the HELOC as the advertised dealer rates are so high.

Yeah, I wasn't just thinking of interest rates, more new vs preowned, original warranty, cost to repair, etc. I'm sure there are people who take out $50k loans for 60+ months on 10 year old cars. It's not for me but to each their own.

I've never needed to take out a HELOC, but the current rates on cars 2014 or older for both credit unions that I use are over 5%. That's actually not as bad as I remember, but too high to me for that long of a term when on a new car I can get 0-2% and have less to worry about.

I'm not happy paying MSRP, but depending on the situation, that may be the only option. When I bought my 135 back in '08, it was a brand new model and none of the dealers around here were negotiating below MSRP. I picked my car up on European Delivery, so it ended up being far less than MSRP anyway.

When I was shopping for a 1M in 2011, many dealers were adding markups with it being a limited model. I know a few people were lucky to get one under MSRP, but most dealers were at MSRP or higher and they told customers TS if they didn't like it.

In this current market, I would be fine with MSRP on a new Z. After hearing dealers are planning on $10-$30k markups, count me out. I'm sure they will find people willing to pay those amounts though, just look at the new Bronco for example.

Our plan now is to go with a 2022 M240, and I have found one for less than MSRP.

I had a 91 turbo and a 2003 track with a supercharger. Always was a fan of the Z cars. This one is not my favorite in the looks category

I dont like the looks of this at all, and I LOVED the old Z cars.

The new BMW M2 Comp, for about the same price, will destroy this in every way.

If the base price for this car is in the low to mid 40's, a loaded one will be high 50's.....
The 2022 M2 Comp is $58k.

The 2022 M2 is even lower. Even the regular M2 would crush this new Z.

Except, a 2022 M2 Competition doesn't exist, nor does a base M2.

This is interesting debate. So let's do a proper side by side as european cars have heavy options premiums. What's a base M2 gonna cost vs a base Z and what are the specs?

There aren't that many options. It's basically which trim level you want.

The Performance trim will be around ~$50k which gets you the better stereo, wheels, diff, etc. Even the M240 starts at basically $50k.

I would bet the '23 M2 starting at ~$58-60k.
