F11 535d xdrive steering problem

Hi all.

I have had this car since February (F11, 2013 LCI) and the steering has always been very smooth and consistent. But suddenly yesterday it became heavy and "dead" off centre. It works but you need more effort correcting the line when driving and you can move the steering wheel much more off centre without anything happening.

Anyone that has an idea what might be wrong? I do have run-flat tires at the front that are pretty worn down, I read somewhere that this might have some effect but I just don't believe it can matter so much. All help appreciated.

Crappy front tyres will find every imperfection in the road surface and pull your steering wheel around.

Is your car an xDrive model with the hydraulic steering? What you described is giving me flashbacks to the power steering rack that crapped out on my E30 in the early 90s.
