USB Navigation Update Problem 2014 F10

Hope someone can help with a Navigation Update problem I'm having. I bought an FSC code cuz it's too hot in Texas to go to my garage and do it with the ENET - BUT I NEVER GET TO THAT POINT anyway:

I have a FAT32 32gb usb stick with the Navigation files and only these files on the root level. The USB is in the armrest of the 2014 535i North America. It NEVER does anything. Opening the Multimedia viewer, the USB is there and recognized. No internal folder or files are visible. The files are 2019 North America NEXT.

Note: My USB is one of those that if you plug an iPhone into it, the cables (authentic/genuine Apple or not) repeatedly do the on/off thing. However, even now, putting in a USB with video files, the files will play with no problem or interruption. The usb stick does get hot.

So the questions are:
1) has anyone else had this problem
2) is my USB broken
3) any fix or alternate method of updating recommended

Files are listed like this:
config.nfm
NBT_NANT_111174.3.111.pkg
NBT_NANT_111174.3.111.pkg.sig
(folders)
1
2
3
4

Thanks
(Please, no questions/debate on whether I should have just gotten the FSC code myself. The code is not the problem here.)

That USB was eliminated in 2013 or 2014...

I had that problem and then realized the stick was fat 32, but GPT. I had reformat it again as Fat32 but with MBR. As soon as I did that, it worked for me.

Can you explain what you mean by MBR & GPT?

Never mind. I figured it out. For those that don't know how to format to FAT32 and are on a Mac, you should probably do it in Terminal. I used this as a guide.

Even though I figured out how to format it to FAT32 with MBR (Master Boot Record), the iDrive still does not start any upgrading. I can see the USB stick under multimedia, but there is nothing happening.

Are you sure the maps you downloaded are the right ones for your nav?

[Edited] I still had the NA Next 2019-1 files, so I reformatted my USB from my mac using the method in your link (instead of on a Windows VM), and the car read them fine and prompted to start the update (I cancelled it). Maybe try another USB stick?
