Speed camera detector recommendation
Hi
Given the absence of a camera database on my upcoming satnav pro .... Can anyone recommend what system to be used, especially interested in something with detector as well as location database. Would also look to have something fitted rather than having messy wires everywhere... |

at least in the states most radar dedectors (i have a V1) pickup of speed cameras since it uses radar to know when your over the speed. mine usually goes off like 100 feet before i reach it.

I've used Beltronics detectors for years. These work in real time ie they detect live radar (Gatso) and laser. They do not detect SPECS, so you need to be careful with average speed cameras.

I have used a uniden for years and it has saved me on loads of occasions, you do have to be pretty instant with the current lasers though-I have always had mine hard wired into the car and positioned up by the mirror. Not fail safe as specs and some newer tech doesn't use radar or laser but relies on infrared but in conjunction with a database ( tomtom / road angel etc ) gives cost effective protection in this age of fleecing the car user at every opportunity.
